Remember when First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by Alameda a few months back, to participate in a commissioning ceremony for a new Coast Guard cutter she sponsored? Well, it turns out the brand-new, half-billion dollar cutter has sprung a few leaks.
The Associated Press is reporting that the Dorothy Stratton, one of three massive national security vessels homeported in Alameda, has a trio of pinholes and a fourth hole thats about the size of a golf ball in its hull.

They named a Coast Guard vessel after a Murdered Playboy Bunny? Un-frigginbelievable!!!!
The leaks I find believable.
It seems like anything they touch turns to crap.
A product of Solyndra Shipworks perhaps?
Disgruntled union welder laborers?
“A product of Solyndra Shipworks perhaps?”
Down the street from the nukeweir whessels??
I guess we know where Obama was: below deck practicing his swing.
When did we start naming Coast Guard vessels for murdered Playmates?
The ship is trying to sink itself out of embarrassment.
Did Hef get a piece of the ship?
I would have never believed it either. Maybe Star 80 wasn’t practical.
Stratton vs Stratten.
Yes. I knew that. Right.
"Eric Stratton, damn glad to meet you."
Heck, they don’t build them like they used to. The cutter I served on, the Taney, was built in the 30’s, went through three wars, was finally decommissioned in 1986 and is now a floating museum in Baltimore harbor.
(see my home page, also)
CAPT Stratton created the US Coast Guard Women’s Service during WW II. Impressive woman. Died recently at age 107.
BTW, most of the new classes of ships are floating special effects with little fighting capability. Both classes of the LCS leak, have faulty engines and electronics, have too few crewmen, and the mission modules don’t work. DDG-1000 is a blackshoe wet dream. CG-X: DOA. New cutters: see above. My beloved Navy is secretly changing the designation of some auxillaries to combatant status so it can claim more fighting ships than it has. I hate to say it but it would be better to soon have a naval engagement and lose-but-rebuild than wait until we lose a naval war and have nothing upon which to fall back. Our carriers are large targets for enemy missiles. At least our subs are still first-rate.
Sounds like a very patriotic lady. We need more, not less, like her. Today she’d easily be an admiral. My old boss in Korea had a very interesting career, from private in the Minnesota National Guard to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_William_Vessey,_Jr.
“CAPT Stratton created the US Coast Guard Womens Service during WW II. Impressive woman. Died recently at age 107.”
Thank you. My sincere apologies to Capt. Stratton. I googled the name, sounded familiar, and there were 15 articles on the “bunny” — never got to the next page.
Now let’s get back to the leaks and holes in the vessel.
“They named a Coast Guard vessel after a Murdered Playboy Bunny? “
Wasn’t she murdered with a shotgun?
Now we know why the ship is full of leaks. It’s haunted by her ghost.
Armed with a single MA-2 .50 caliber Browning, this much feared naval vessel carries up to 30 rounds of aluminum piercing ammunition. It is the first in an entirely new naval architecture class -- technically, clitoral (not to be confused with littoral) -- being pushed on the Pentagon by the defense minded wussies in the Obama Administration as a cost-saving measure. If you look closely, you can see the heavy-duty seat restraint which prevents the pilot/gunner Kamakazi Kowalski from leaping from the vessel prior to engaging the enemy. The 12 V trolling motor which lacks a reverse function -- propels this sophisticated craft forward at a top speed of 4 knots. Reverse travel at approximately 35 knots -- is achieved by firing the Browning.
The no-bid contract to build 200 of these fearsome warships was to have been awarded to Obama-Soros-Emanuel Shipbuilding and Stormdoor Manufacturing (formerly General Dynamics) and will be administered by trusted Obama associate and former Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel who commented that, at $12 million each, they are a bargain. They will be constructed exclusively at the companys facility in Kenya with major subcomponent production (rivets and miscellaneous fasteners) at the companys Harlem and Skokie plants. Delivery is expected to begin in 2024 (or as soon as the subcontractors funds are safely in the contractor's Swiss account).
I stand corrected! I had no idea.
Thank you for the information.
