Thankfully, our long national nightmare is over:
Mitt Romney apologized on Thursday morning for pranks he helped orchestrate in high school that he said might have gone too far, including an incident in which he pinned down a fellow student and cut his hair.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee was responding to an article published a few hours earlier by The Washington Post documenting the episode with first-hand accounts from Romneys classmates.
Back in high school, I did some dumb things and if anybody was hurt by that or offended, obviously I apologize for that, Romney said in a live radio interview with Fox News Channel personality Brian Kilmeade. Romney added: I participated in a lot of hijinks and pranks during high school and some might have gone too far and for that, I apologize.
Romneys campaign hastily scheduled the radio interview for the candidate to call in from Omaha, where he is holding a campaign event later Wednesday, to respond to The Posts report.
Politically speaking, this was the smart thing to do. Other campaigns would have tried challenging the veracity of the stories and/or the motives of the witnesses, but that’s a losing proposition. The more a campaign debates those points, the longer the story goes, and the more legitimacy it has in the media. Instead, the Romney campaign made it an old story before it began to grow legs by just expressing remorse over any cruelty that may have taken place in high school.
I eagerly await the next set of stories about how in middle school Romney refused to give cuts in line to kids from low-income families, or how he shamelessly violated the “exies-no-erasies” rule in elementary school with his female classmates.
How did he evade prison after all these years?
I’m not apologizing for mine. The nuns....nevermind
I guess I can never run for President considering the pranks I did in college—brought a bunch of geese into the school’s indoor swimming pool, hid a pair of dirty underwear in the bottom of a guy’s cereal box, put knives in the spines of the hymn books so during chapel when everyone was asked to open their books a thousand knives all fell to the ground at once.
Oh, good grief. No ones cares what you did in high school or elementary school or pre school......what a flipping wimp.
Obama thanks you
Kids will be kids.
The Bible even says so.
When I was a child, I etc etc.......
But as a man, I put away childish things.
Quote from Paul the Apostle.
I would have said it isn’t relevant exactly because of that, and I wouldn’t have apologized, today, in a presidenial campaign, for an irrelevancy.
Now, about that Romneycare...
You gotta do what you gotta do to get your Temple Recommend. If Heavenly Father needs me to chastise some backslider who missed services a few weeks in a row, then that’s what I gotta do.
It just escalated to Gay Bashing on the local news.
“Obviously orchestrated with Zero’s evolution coming out yesterday.”
What else is there to say? But it won’t change the final outcome.
Since we’re going back to high school on Romney, can we please see obama’s college transcripts? RELEASE THEM NOW. All of them.
Somebody needs to have a word with his handlers. Making Mittens more human is not done by making him a metrosexual, pandering, libtard. He already owns that label. The people who make the nation run would prefer someone who did make waves and kicked butt on the appeasers.
I bet this “hair bullying” will get air play... the whole country seems to be on an anti-bullying kick these days.
Now he will be described as a Bullying 1%er...
High school pranks are so much more important than leftists wrecking American society.
Definitely! A Marxist that admitted he smoked weed, did a little blow when he had money to buy it and said he hung out with the other Marxist students is a far better choice. GO O!!
Please tell me this is satire.
Noe that's just not true. Give the devil his due. Obama never gets tired of apologizing for America's sins and transgressions.
I think this story will actually do his image good.
