Considering that the entire population of the earth could fit into Texas with room to spare, I’m surprised that we all haven’t already moved there by now, LOL!
I’m getting there as fast as I can.
Brown’s just trying to hang on until the voters put a scapegoat...er, Republican in office.
I remember reading about a study that claimed that. Some professor worked out the math and showed that you could house the world's population in typical three bedroom houses within the borders of Texas.
The growth here is pretty phenomenal. Over a thousand Americans a day move here from other states. It's been predicted that the area between Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio (the 'Texaplex') will be the fastest growing area in the US over the next decade.

Texas is the best state, but they really have to clean out the big, liberal cities. That’s just like everywhere else, I suppose.
I don't worry too much about the big liberal cities. Conservatives and newly converted liberals are moving here by the train load, so they tend to offset the presence of the gimme class.
The other thing is, Texas is one of this country's last defensible strongholds. This place is pretty much the end of the line for folks in the lower 48. There's no place left to retreat to, unless one elects to completely give up the fight, and leave the whole enchilada to the enemy. That's a pitiful surrender, in my estimation.
I know that some have chosen that route, but most have not, and they will not surrender.
If and when it all breaks down, I want to be in the one place that is likely to survive it intact, and that is Texas.
I highly doubt she really said that to Brown. I think it is much more likely she later said that she did in an effort to puff up her own importance.
I can relate. I felt the exact same frustration with California voters. The worst was in 2010 when every other state voted Republican and our idiots were the only ones that took us in the other direction.
I lived in California until last year. Wife and I hit some hard times, couldn’t find work. On a whim I suggested we start applying out of state and almost immediately got a hit. Now we live in Hawaii, and although it is still a blue state, it is like night and day.
Not sure how the rest of your experience has been, but I was also getting sick of the culture in California too. We had gangs moving into our territory, Section 8 housing was everywhere, the public schools were corrupt and fascist in dealing with parents, people in general were hostile. There are still a few pockets of nice places left - namely San Diego and Orange County, but overall those things are shrinking.
I have known for some time now that California is doomed to economic decay and moral decay, and entrenched one party Democrat socialist government. The point was doubly underscored when 49 states voted overwhelmingly Republican, but California elected the 3 San Francisco communists, Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsome and Kamilla Harris, to statewide office.
Put a fork in the state, it is well done, burned, charred and hopelessly inevitable.
I lived in the bay area for 12 years while being involved in construction of 3 new bridges including the new SF-Oakland bay bridge. I lived in the San Francisco city limits for the last 7 years of those 12. Around year 10, I broke and fell into a mild but genuine emotional depression. I guess living there was a lot like Chinese water torture. The first few years were fun laughing at the insanity of liberals - like watching monkeys in a zoo. It was fun and funny. But eventually I just became very sour and pessimistic, resulting in my depression.
I had enough and eventually left and now live in the crappy empty non-nondescript valley town of Yuba City, and I just love it for now until I can flee California for Virginia. Yuba City is a ramshackle hick town devoid of any culture or interest or beauty, but it is generally conservative and fairly devoid of all of the evil I left behind in San Francisco.
I love it for what it is not, not what it is. So I don’t suffer any of the crime, gangs, school issues, etc. that you did. The gang problems are isolated and they tend to prey on each other. Meanwhile, my modest salary lets me live in the best neighborhood in town because the housing costs are so relatively low.
So until I can finish out to my retirement, I have it made in this crappy little cow town of nothing filled with conservatives and friendly minded salt of the earth type people. I’m not complaining. It is a place I can pine away and endure in private misery until I can flee this anti-family, anti-responsibility, anti-military, anti-Christian, anti-sanity communist hellhole or the People’s Democratic Republic of California.
Yup, it’s coming. My only hope is the coming California insolvency will wake up the middle class to the massive hemorrhaging of their tax dollars toward useless idiocy and the state rises from the fall, rather than being abandoned to the children of the illegals. I’m not terribly optimistic. The best case scenario is the state breaks in two above Santa Barbara, and the south is conceded to the illegals and children, while the middle class flees to the north and demands responsible governance.
Not saying I want to see SC conceded to the illegals and children, I’m just saying I think the options are set: either they get the whole state, or give them the south and try to salvage the north state, after insolvency. If nothing else, the north has a flood of water to sell them so the state of North California would have at least one solid permanent economic advantage over the south.
Points taken but I wouldn’t recommend anyone attempting to handcuff the pope (Directorate for Vatican Security Services and Civil Defence, which is headed by the Chiefs of the Corps of Gendarmes, is much better trained and equipped than any U.S. state-level security force).

Sounds like Yuba City would be #1 on my list if I ever needed a refuge in the State of California (unlikely). Hope you continue to feel better!
Somebody needs to nuke Austin before it takes Texas purple. I remember when Washington state was pretty solid red, then Microsoft and the Seattle tech industry shot up with their attending liberal bed-wetting idiocy. Washington is not so conservative anymore.

It's my honest opinion that most people can't see the 'tipping point' when it's directly in front of them, although they're able to see the 'handwriting on the wall' from a distance.
When a societal breakdown occurs, it usually happens very quickly - like a dam bursting. If you're smart, you take your leave when you see the first small trickles of water streaming down the face. To wait longer, is to court disaster.
This is why I got out in late 2005. The 'handwriting' was writ large on the wall by that time.

Indeed. As long as a listing boat is still afloat, many people will try to ignore that fact, or will put their faith in the belief that the boat just can't sink. When it suddenly capsizes, all those who didn't already push off in the lifeboats, are drowned.
