P-47 fans really need to see this internet archive of www.rareybird.com, a former tribute website put together by a Jug pilot's son. The son passed away a few years ago now and I guess the remaining family members weren't interested in maintaining the site. All that's left of it now is what was copied by the Wayback Machine. The P-47 stuff begins in Volume III.

George Rarey was a talented amateur cartoonist, as the illustrations from his journal show. The archives caught most of that stuff, thankfully.
