200,000 Blue Collar Coal Miners Who Power America Threatened by Obama EPA
Fox News ^ | 5/11/2012 | Fox News

In obscure, blue-collar towns across Appalachia -- places that most Americans have never seen -- generations of coal miners have toiled away at back-breaking labor to power American homes and industry. Now, as many as 200,000 of them who dig, process, transport and burn America's most abundant fuel are threatened by EPA's latest coal rule.

It imposes a standard for emissions that is all but impossible for many plants to meet. It requires coal-fired plants to release no more than 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt hour.

The only means for many older plants to attain that standard is to install what is known as carbon capture and storage technology. But that's expensive and not commercially available.

"At the end of the day, we just couldn't justify it based upon what that cost would be," says Mark Durbin of First Energy, which owns the Willow Island Power Station in Albright, W.Va., "It would be astronomical to try and retrofit some of older units that really are not as efficient as they should be." Environmentalists are praising the new rule as a vital defense against climate change.

Over carbon dioxide. Not lead, mercury, sulfur or anything really harmful, but carbon dioxide.

There needs to be a movement started to pressure Romney to (1) agree that CO2 IS NOT a pollutant & (2) that one of his first acts will be to direct the new EPA to publicly delist CO2 as a pollutant.

That one act would nullify all the global warming-related BS regulations that are destroying our domestic energy industry.

And you want to know why Keith Judd, a prisoner in Texas, wins 41% of the vote over Obama in the WV Primary? It’s about COAL, COAL, COAL. It is the state’s bread and butter and The One has done everything he can do to gut the entire industry. That’s why the con did so well and ended up winning 10 out of 55 counties.

Leave it between the lines.

He said, “you can burn coal if you want to, but if you do, you’ll go bankrupt”. They voted for him any way.

Carbon dioxide is plant food, as necessary to sustaining vegetation growth as oxygen is to sustaining human and animal life.

That will be the one tax no one can avoid, clever people those One Worlders.

He said, “you can burn coal if you want to, but if you do, you’ll go bankrupt”.

To be fair, no one but political junkies like those on this forum ever saw or heard that statement. Coal companies earned Unionization as did some other industries, this is the monster they created.

Kennedy on the other hand created public unions with the stroke of a pen, and even bigger monster and only monetary collapse is likely to cure it. On the other hand that would bring coal back on line.

The EPA should have to issue edicts from the deck of the Titanic.

They are.

this means the price of rice-coal that people use to heat their homes will make a drastic jump there since most of it prolly comes as a by product of breaking coal for use in the power plants...

If our Founding Fathers were here today, what would they do?

If they didn't expire from shock, they'd no doubt organize a second revolution which probably would cap off with a massive necktie party.

Candidate obama promised this. His supporters refused to believe it.

And the United Mine Workers Union supported him.

Time for the union members to wake the hell up and understand the leftist union leadership punks that they give their money to every paycheck --- i.e. they don't give a rat's ass about the membership. They just want the money.

Trumka is a genuine dyed in the wool terrorist. He led the UMWA in a terror campaign in 1988-89 in Southwest Virginia

What will be the last straw.... and what will it bring?

If our Founding Fathers were here today, what would they do? I would have voted for Newt....

Yep, you and me both.

I would have voted for Sarah first and foremost, but it was not to be.

Then I supported Bachman, but that didn't last long.

Then I jumped on Perry's bandwagon.

Next was Cain's.

Finally, I PRAYED that Newt would somehow pull off a miracle, but oh well, who said life's fair.

NOW, unlike a few of our more "PRINCIPLED" Freepers who care not a whit if this most CORRUPT, DANGEROUS, ISLAMO-FASCIST-APPEASING/SUPPORTING, NEO-COMMIE gets another 4 years to continue his agenda in destroying our Republic, I refuse to sit back and not even try to deny him another term.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I dislike Mittens, don't trust him and put him in the same category as our former Compassionate Conservative RINO, Boosh, but I will do whatever necessary to try and help defeat Barack Hussein Obama.

Whatever anybody else chooses to do, have at it.

Historically, in terms of geologic ages, the current CO2 levels in the atmosphere are within measurable distances of the lower limit for sustaining vegetable life. If we had ten times the CO2 we would have a far more lush and vegetarian planet, and it would be only marginally warmer, as the CO2 greenhouse effect has already approached asymptotic values.

Indeed. PA and OH are up in the air but WV is gone as far as Obama is concerned. He won't even campaign there most likely.
