A course for U.S. military officers has been teaching that America's enemy is Islam in general, not just terrorists, and suggesting that the country might ultimately have to obliterate the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina without regard for civilian deaths, following World War II precedents of the nuclear attack on Hiroshima or the allied firebombing of Dresden.
The Pentagon suspended the course in late April when a student objected to the material. The FBI also changed some agent training last year after discovering that it, too, was critical of Islam.

I’m certainly glad that some in our military have a clear understanding enemy identification and aren’t afraid to say who or what the enemy is.

No, Communist control of our government is the most dangerous threat to us. The mudslimes would not have a prayer against us if we had an old-fashioned American leadership in charge. 2012 may be our last chance to slow our descent to national destruction.
This is not a socialogy course. It's a course for military & civilian war planners. People who would be the strategic and operational planners for future wars. I don't have a problem with having them war game a possible strike against Islam. Heck, we probably have contingency operations to invade Canada -- we just don't advertise it.
They could start by dismantling "Homeland Security", and it's various subsidiaries. Then, repealing the "PATRIOT" and other unconstitutional codswallop.
Then the president could go on TV and state unequivalently that it has suddenly become the best interests of muslims the world over to make sure that no terrorism occurs in the U.S., because now it is the official policy that for every bomb that goes off, one muslim "holy site" will be bombed into oblivion, beginning with a tactical strike against mecca, then medina. Conventional bombs would thereafter be used at the discretion of the U.S. military.
Congress spending ourselves to oblivion will finish us sooner than anything else.

Not so much a rudderless ship. It would become a religion that cannot be “fulfilled”. The 5th pillar of Islam is attained by the Haj, a pilgrammage to Mecca. With Mecca nuked and made inhabitable Islam would diminish over time like other extinct religions have. The adherents would be unable to attain this final pillar of their faith.

Christians don’t worship “Bethlehem”.
This was made evident when Muslim Fanatics took over the Church of the Nativity, and the only ones who acted to get them out were the Israelis (God Bless Them!).
The Muslims, however, DO worship the Kaaba and Mecca. Infidels are not allowed access, they demand pilgrimage as part of their religion, they circumambulate and prostrate themselves before it.
I have been to Bethlehem, and enjoyed my visit, but if it were nuked, my Christianity would still be intact.

That is an important distinction to make.
Islamofascists have declared war against not just us but all of Western culture. We haven't declared war on them.
We can continue our current approach of trying to divide Islamic radicals or take a scorched-earth Crusader-style model. I wouldn't have a problem in theory with declaring a Crusade, but America isn't yet convinced of the need to do so, and at least for now, we still have some relatively moderate Muslim states we can work with. We also have to deal with the fact that America is no longer a predominantly Christian country and liberals and atheists need to become convinced that Islam is an existential threat against women and liberal views of religious freedom.
These things take time.

A “student objected “, huh? That pretty much makes the story not quite believeable on it’s face. And where is this critical POS now? Be fun to know what his job was before he took the class. I used to teach highly specialized classes like this is / was and one does not get ordered to take them-——you pretty much want to be there and bitching about the course content is not the logical next step. Sounds like it was a course for Officers, they being the ones responsible for use of weapons. Officers know how to express diverse opinions without making the news. If there is even an element of truth to the story I expect we’re short one security clearance by now?
