What Mitt Romney Hasn't Done...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I'll tell you, here's what I know. Here's what I know, and this is after only an hour of... and, by the way, you must know, I have to tell you what this feels like. Guilt. I only did an hour of show prep, but I feel like I'm skipping school today. I feel like I'm not fulfilling expectations, so we'll see. This is what I know. Mitt Romney was not at Chappaquiddick. Mitt Romney has not been accused of rape. Mitt Romney did not have an affair with a mob babe. He didn't have an affair with an actress who committed suicide later on. Mitt Romney did not father a child out of wedlock. Mitt Romney did not support the tapping of Martin Luther King's phone. Mitt Romney was never a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Mitt Romney did not lie about his law school grades.

Chappaquiddick is Ted Kennedy. Accused of rape is Bill Clinton. Affair with the mob babe and an actress, John Kennedy. Didn't father a child out of wedlock, that's John Edwards and Democrats too numerous to mention. Didn't support the tapping of Martin Luther King's phone, that's Robert Kennedy. Never a member of the Ku Klux Klan, that's Robert Byrd. Didn't lie about his law school grades, that's Joe Biden. All Democrats, and all of those Democrats did those things well after high school. And Obama even wrote in his book Dreams from My Father how he bullied a young girl. And he hasn't even apologized. Grab audio sound bite number six. The audio book version, Dreams from My Father, originally published in print, by the way, 1995. Then-Senator Barack Obama in his book said this about a time he bullied a young classmate named Coretta.

OBAMA: Her name was Coretta, and before my arrival she had been the only black person in our grade. She was plump and dark and didn't seem to have many friends. I ran up to Coretta and gave her a slight shove. She staggered back and looked up at me, but still said nothing. "Leave me alone," I shouted again. And suddenly Coretta was running, faster and faster until she disappeared from sight. Appreciative laughs rose around me. For the rest of the afternoon I was haunted by the look on Coretta's face.

RUSH: Yeah. So Obama admits to bullying a young girl, still hasn't apologized for it. The Washington Post hasn't dug deep. The Washington Post hasn't tried to find her. The Washington Post hasn't tried to find her family. The Washington Post hasn't alleged that Coretta was a lesbian. The Post hasn't alleged that there was any presumed anti-gay bias in Obama's bullying. Same book, Dreams from My Father, this about Obama and his time in high school in Hawaii.

OBAMA: I spent the last two years of high school in a daze, locking away the questions that life seemed insistent on posing. I kept playing basketball, attended classes sparingly, drank beer heavily, and tried drugs enthusiastically. I discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van or in the dorm room with some brother you'd met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl.

RUSH: I discovered it didn't make any difference. So we have an admitted bully, an admitted user of alcohol and cocaine, and even at that, there has not yet been any energy whatsoever expended to try to find out any more about this. No, what do we have? A practically made-up story about Mitt Romney starting yesterday in the Washington Post, back at the prestigious, distinguished Cranbrook school. Idyllic place. Romney found this long-haired blond guy, said, "I don't like long hair like that," pinned the guy down, beat him up, sat on him. The guy was so devastated he commits suicide later. I mean that was basically the story. Romney apologized and apologized and apologized. ABC News led the news with it last night.

"A family member of the classmate whom Mitt Romney allegedly bullied in high school says she has no knowledge of the incident, according to news reports. Christine Lauber, the older sister of former Romney classmate John Lauber, has told ABC News she was at college when the incident allegedly occurred while her brother, John, and Romney attended high school at the Cranbrook School, in Bloomfield, Mich. The Washington Post story Thursday states Romney and at least one other classmate held down, then cut off the long, bleached-blond hair on Lauber, who was presumed to be gay," but the family says all these presumptions about the guy in the story are wrong. They don't specify which presumptions are wrong. They just say that the caricature of this guy in the story is not correct, and they're upset about it. The guy's dead. He can't defend himself, and so what's happened here is the media, in typical left-wing fashion, has taken a couple of people, set out and just destroyed 'em, all for the purposes of advancing some really silly, pathetic -- and, by the way, this is not an accident.

This story has been waiting in the wings for Obama to announce that he wasn't gonna do anything different on gay marriage. Which is what he did. I'm reading reports of the fundraiser at the Clooney estate last night. Exactly what I thought would happen. They all sat around, applauded each other, applauded Obama, talked about how great it was. Nothing's different. There is not a shred of change in gay marriage policy in this country, and Obama didn't make a shred of change. But it doesn't matter, because we don't look at results; we look at intentions. So all these people are feeling really good about themselves, but in the meantime, how pathetic is this? Literally pathetic. This is all they've got. And this is something that they have obviously been waiting and holding in reserve.

I'm convinced, folks, it's all part of a conceived strategy waiting for execution with a timeline. The only thing that's gone wrong here is that the family member of this classmate that Romney allegedly bullied is now saying it didn't happen. Ah, that's not a big problem, is it? It didn't happen. Family member says she doesn't remember anything about this. She didn't hear anything about this. "I don't remember that incident," Romney said. "And I'll tell you I certainly don't believe that I ... thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."

"Ms. Lauber, of South Bend, Ind., said she and her sisters will likely issue a statement later today through their attorney. She also said that if her brother were alive 'he would be furious' about the story. Ms. Lauber told ABC her brother was a 'very unusual person.' 'He didn’t care about running with the peer group,' she said. 'What’s wrong with that? Even if it did happen, John probably wouldn’t have said anything,' Ms. Lauber added." The sister didn't know about it.

But I'm still struck by the fact that's it's such a pathetic, I mean, really, is this all they've got? No, I'm serious. I'm sitting here, correct me if I'm wrong, and I probably am on this, I'm sitting here, I can't imagine this being effective with one person who's undecided about anything. I know I'm wrong. I know that this country's full of people who, hell, want to ban football, for crying out loud. Cutting off a blond kid's hair is probably worse than anything that happens on the football field with some people, I can imagine.

In the meantime, the Rasmussen tracking poll's out, and Obama's down 50-43. That's the news.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, there are a couple of other family members of Mr. Lauber speaking out. Betsy Lauber, one of John Lauber's three sisters, spoke with ABC News. "The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family."

“....most people have done stupid things...”

In all reality, if this is the bar, if this story about Mitt Romney is the line in the sand, for a person to be disqualified to be president, well let’s face it, there’s NOBODY qualified to be president in this country. Sarah Palin and Ron Paul and WHOEVER from the Left included.

At least nobody we’d WANT to be president.

Even the Washington Post’s own lefty blogger, Greg Sargeant said (paraphrasing a quote I read elsewhere today): I just can’t get past the fact that I don’t want to be judged on what I did in High School.

This isn’t even a pro/anti Romney thing, this is a “You have got to be kidding me thing”.

But then again, this is the Washington Post, the paper that destroyed George Allen’s last senate run with one word, repeated endlessly, like a mantra: Maccaca!

So, I guess they figured it was worth a shot.

Coretta was the name of Martin Luther Kind’s wife IIRC. Ayers was using a classic (in his mind) “black” name. More mythology....It’s a very unusual name, never read or heard of it attached to any other human.

Mythology is right, Coretta is based on a Greek name, lol. That seems to be pretty typical - a lot of people named their kids with Greek names for some reason.

I think the timing is to distract from Obama trying to play both sides on gay marriage. They were sitting on this “story”, and it’s a minor story. Who knows what they are saving.

I hung out with a lot of black kids in high school, in the late mid/late 60s. I never knew a Coretta. It stinks of being made up by Ayers.

A very bright FReeper put it this way,

"So let's say you are stranded out in the desert, on the verge of dying of thirst. As you stagger through the hot dry sands, in a desperate attempt to find water, You come across a case of a popular sports drink half buried in a shade of a sand dune.

Frantically, you claw away at the sand until you fully uncover the case of life-saving liquid refreshment.

Grabbing one of the bottles, you rub away the sand and dirt so that you can read the ingredients... "Damn," you mutter to yourself, "High Fructose Corn Syrup! I can't drink that, bad for my health!" So you toss the bottle aside in disgust and continue on your way, eventually dropping dead several miles away.

And so that is how I see this upcoming election. Romney not only is loaded with high fructose corn syrup, he's loaded with red dye #3, trans-fats and all sorts of artificial junk. But the alternative is drinking Kool-Aid served up by Jim Jones and the People's Temple. "

Or Glenn Beck's way....

1. Do you know anyone who has the understanding and gained their understanding of Jesus Christ and defend it, and they got that understanding from someone like Jeremiah Wright? Do you know anyone who is a good Christian that believes there is no salvation unless there’s collective salvation?

2. Do you know somebody who is raised and/or mentored by communists?

3. Do you have friends or acquaintances that are Marxists, Communists, or have been actively engaged in the overthrow of the United States government?

4. Have you ever been at a party celebrating someone who has been accused of domestic terrorism?

5. Do you know anyone or have you ever been to a party and gave a toast to someone who is accused of being a Muslim terrorist?

6. Do you or any of your friends have the belief that terrorism doesn’t really exist? And that by definition jihad is only a holy struggle?

7. How many of you or how many of your friends have hired members of the Muslim Brotherhood to provide security for your business or their business? Or would hire members of the Muslim Brotherhood to go through and put together your security for your town?

8. Do you have any friends that believe the Muslim Brotherhood is largely secular and good?

9. Do you know anybody that thinks NASA’s foremost goal should be Muslim outreach, so you can help them and NASA can help them feel good?

10. Do you know anybody who believes that Occupy Wall Street features the best people in our country right now?

11. Is it even conceivable that anyone you know or associate with would think that killing Osama Bin Laden was a tough decision? With that, you have a single friend who in that case would make sure that we have a “blame someone else” memo ready just in case it went wrong?

12. Do you have anybody in your circle of friends or your circle of influence that believes America and Israel is the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the world. Do you know anyone who believes the United States constitution needs to be a photo negative to be right with the world today?

13. Would you or anyone you know take a gift given to the United States after 9/11, a bust of Winston Churchill, and try to give it back to the prime minister on your first meeting? And when he says, “No, no, that’s a gift, you can keep it,” would you or anyone in your circle of influence then take that bust, box it up, ship it back yourself and say “We don’t need it anymore”?

14. Do you know anyone, a single person, who has a wife or a husband that has never been proud of the United States of America until something good happened in their life?

15. Do you know anybody who would actively defend allowing a baby to die without treatment in a hospital if an abortion failed? That the baby would be born outside, the doctors would have it, and they would be allowed to put it in a closet and just let it die?

16. Would someone in your life withhold needed money from poor countries or suggest that needed money from poor countries was withheld unless they change the Constitution to be pro-abortion?

17. Do you know anybody who believes the only way out of debt is to spend $5 trillion in three and a half years? Or believes Solyndra and other green businesses were a good bet, and that the people’s hard earned money is something you should gamble with and you think that it should continue?

18. How many people do you know personally that would give a shout out to someone to say, “Hey, I just want to say hi to Bob over there and thank Bob – It’s been a great day, Bob,” before you had to announce to the country that 13 soldiers were murdered by an Islamic extremist on our own soil?

19. Do you know anybody who claims to be a huge Israeli supporter? Do you know anybody who says, “I’m the biggest fan of Israel, they’re our biggest and strongest ally, and I’m a huge supporter. I’m the best thing that has happened.” And that when the prime minister of that country flew from the other side of the globe to have a scheduled dinner with you, you would humiliate him and blow off for dinner? Let him eat alone while you had a quiet dinner someplace else with friends? Do you know anybody who says, “I am the biggest supporter of Israel,” and then visited all of the Muslim countries around Israel but couldn’t find the time to go to Israel? And that as Israel’s biggest, most loyal supporter, believes they should go back to the indefensible ’67 borders? I understand it if you’re not a fan of Israel, but if you’re a fan of Israel, do you know a soul that is a true fan of Israel that says, “Yes, go back to the ’67 borders”?

20. Do you know any committed capitalist who believes in redistribution of wealth?

My first car was a 1977 Pinto. White, with red interior, four on the floor. It kicked and we installed an 8-track player with four speakers.

There was a “Mustang club” that would go to a local park and wax their cars for all to see.

But their was also a Pinto club. Guess who had the louder music?

It’s more like being thirsty in the desert, finding a half buried bottle of Gatorade, opening it up, and finding it’s full of fermented urine.

George Romney left AMC in 1962 to run for Governor. He should have stayed in the car business.

“I think the timing is to distract from Obama trying to play both sides on gay marriage.... Who knows what they are saving.”

It’s pretty clear to most people with 1/2 a brain that Obama’s “evolution” on gay marriage is just bs. We know that either 1. he always favored it and was lying before or even possibly 2. he does not in fact favor it and is lying now or maybe even more likely 3. he doesn’t really care one way or the other but as you say is just playing both sides.

But to his media cheerleaders this is the greatest thing since I don’t know what, Rosa Parks or something.

Maybe they did think there would be “pushback” on the evolution and they put this story out there to distract from that.

As to what other dirt they may have on Romney, I don’t know. They’ve already done the dog story, the swiss bank account story (although they might try again with that), the why haven’t you released every tax return you ever filed story.

I imagine we are going to hear more about Bain Capital and also Mormonism. Although they’ll have to be careful about the latter.

They could also do some “you’re just an overly rich white person” stories, but with the First Golfer and First Lady of Vacations in the WH that might not fly too well either.

What’s important about these stories is not that they come out with them, but how our side fights back.

Allen got destroyed by that Maccaca bs, why he wasn’t able to counter that effectively I don’t know.

They tried the same thing with McDonnel’s thesis, which was a much more substantive issue than Maccaca, but he was able to beat them back on that.

The MSM is the enemy though, that is for sure.

That’s great! I also had a ‘77 Pinto, but mine was such a shade of green that one of my coworkers called it the Lima Bean. I bought it for $200. It was actually a decent running car—only had 56,000 miles on it when I got it. I was willing to deal with the ego hit since I had no money back then.

Okay, fresh urine. Doesn’t kill.

Robomney is pro-homo agenda in every way, wife give $ to Planned Parenthood and used to be pro-abortion, the author of Robomney care, not passionate about gun rights, nominated liberals and Dems judges in MA, thinks he’s going to be a god some day, lies about his record. There’s a couple of charts about his record. The only thing is that his name really is what he says it is and he was born in the US.

He’s the absolute worst R candidate I have ever seen in my entire life. And if they force him on us, he will lose.

How about any of these?

I agree with you. However, every person who was willing to fight either sided with Romney or is back in her home state being a King maker (not that I blame her)

I’ll fight the good fight until Romney is nominated. Then I throw in the towel. We CAN’T have BO back in. There will be no conservatives or GOP. I pray that we have an America anymore at all.

Well you see, Obama’s record matters, but Romney’s record doesn’t matter. At least that’s the way some Romney supporters act.

Exactly, because Romney has an 'R' next to his name, even though his record declares him to be a pretend Republican.
