Nearly 200,000 Florida Voters May Not Be Citizens

Tens of thousands of voters could be dropped from the rolls this election year

Florida officials are now saying that nearly 200,000 registered voters may not be U.S. citizens.

Earlier in the week, state election officials announced they had identified more than 2,600 people who are in Florida legally but ineligible to vote.

The Department of State is asking county election officials to verify the information. Election supervisors are contacting voters and if someone is not a citizen, their name will be dropped from the voter rolls.

But an initial list drawn up by the state — and not widely released — shows that a comparison of voter lists and driver's license information turned up a list of nearly 182,000 people who may not be U.S. citizens.

State officials, however, note that some of those on list may have become citizens after first getting their driver's licenses. Still, the decision to screen the voter rolls for non-citizens could result in tens of thousands voters being dropped in the middle of a critical election year.

President Barack Obama won Florida four years ago, but recent polls have shown that he is neck-and-neck with likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney. The 2000 election between George W. Bush and Al Gore was decided by just 537 votes in the Sunshine State.

Yours is deliberate thread hijacking. It has nothing to do with what I wanted to read about on this thread as a citizen of Florida. Please knock off the disrespectful and thoughtless spam!

“Surprise, surprise, surprise, Sergeant Carter...”

The Moron Force is strong in FL.

There will be a lot less fraud in Michigan this time around. Our voter ID law is fully in force and our new SOS has made vote integrity a primary target and purged thousands of dead and illegal voters from the rolls.

Ditto... Georgia.

The new law here is that as driver’s Licenses come up for renewal, we will have to show up in person to renew and present a birth certificate, social security card and proof of residence.

So not only do we still present our id to vote, but now those ids will be even more accurate and hopefully secure.

While we ran the table in the 2010 elections, I still say that Secretary of State Ruth Johnson was the true gem of that election season in Michigan.

She actively ran against George Soros, ACORN, and the secretary of state project.

When asked if they were citizens, 12 million Florida voters answered, “YES” and the other 200,000 answered, “SI”.

Voter suppression! Voter suppression!

—About damn time. These are huge numbers and should be well publicized. They should be used to rally the GOP base, but the G in GOP must stand for “too Gentlemanly.”

They're not interested in this petty stuff ~ they're the big boys and they have agricultural interests to satisfy! And then there are the entertainers and other crew on the cruise ship lines ~ and the gays.

Catering to the gays and the rich is today's GOPe ambition.

This could be the biggest political story of the year if the GOPe doesn’t punt it.
............................................................

They will.

Does this story leave any doubt in anyone’s mind why the Democrats do not want voter ID?

Same here in Tennessee. It also applies to CCW permits. When I renewed my CCW permit I had to produce my birth certificate or my passport and proof of residence. I really like to use my CCW permit as ID in states like IL and CA—shocks the hell out of them.

That Bush and the Republican Party did not go after voter fraud in a major way in the wake of the 2000 election was one of the bigger mistakes he made.

I just had to wrap duct tape around my head to keep it from exploding. The Repub's will drop the ball on this, probably. The issue of maintaining proper voter roles should be part of the Repub party platform. Let the whiners, whine. Oh, that's right, we are just a bunch of racists. Let's forget it then.

If a general at war could disarm 200,000 of the enemy troops in one fell swoop, would he not move swiftly to do so? Governor Rick Scott of Florida is moving in that direction, IIRC. But, will it be too little, too late? 200,000 less democrat (illegal) voters is a guaranteed landslide in dozens of precincts. /rant
