Nebraskas GOP Senate primary frontrunner Jon Bruning supported Attorney General Eric Holders nomination and confirmation back in 2009. Bruning, Nebraskas current attorney general, was one of a group of Republican state attorneys general who pushed to get Holder confirmed at the beginning of the Obama administration.
Bruning and his campaign remain mum when consistently asked if he continues to support Holder as attorney general in the wake of Operation Fast and Furious, especially with Holders demonstrable failure to comply with a lawfully issued congressional subpoena. For more than two months, Brunings campaign hasnt returned The Daily Callers requests for comment on the issue. On Friday, Bruning spokeswoman Natalie Krings tried to bolster Brunings Second Amendment credentials but still wouldnt answer whether he thinks Holder should resign over Fast and Furious.
No one has fought harder than Jon Bruning to protect the 2nd Amendment, Krings said in an email to TheDC. Jon has an A rating from the NRA and is a life endowment member. As Attorney General, he worked with the legislature to pass conceal-carry legislation, helped pass a Castle doctrine and has fought attempts to ban handgun ownership across the country.
Brunings silence about Holder doesnt sit well with Nebraskas former Attorney General Don Stenberg, whos one of a couple of Republicans running against him. Stenberg has been extra vocal about Fast and Furious over the course of the campaign and on Friday morning, he was endorsed by the pro-Second Amendment group Gun Owners of America (GOA).
When asked by an Omaha radio station why he supported Eric Holder, Bruning said that Holder had the votes anyway and he wanted to appear reasonable, Stenberg said in statement. In other words, Bruning supported Eric Holder because Bruning wanted to go along to get along. That is not what we need

Gunwalker, Murdergate ping.
If Jon can’t come out against H0lder, he’s got to be a core member of the GOPe.
Rat socialist tyranny is only possible because of traitor RINOs.
This speaks very poorly of this guy. He will fit in too well in the club in DC. A good ole' boy establishment type. This sounds like what Lugar would do.
I hope the primary voters in Nebraska take a good look at this before voting.
He wanted to appear “reasonable” in his support of Holder???? The man is stupid if he can’t tell the difference between reason and following the lemmings over the cliff! This is what mommies teach to ten year olds - not grown men!!
Holder, a member of Slick willie’s administration, already had some black marks on his record, first and foremost the sale of a pardon for Mark Rich, a fugitive living in Europe.
I believe that H0lder “touched” Gonzales, Waco, Ruby Ridge and many other gov’t travesties.
A GOP appeaser - go along/get along.....not one vote. NOT ONE VOTE for him.
Any Nebraska FReepers want to chime in on this thread and let the rest of us know what the field is like for this primary?
Thanks in advance.
He’s already got plenty of primary opponents, problem is none of them are going to win
Jon Bruning-Current NE Atty Gnl,former State Senator(Dist 3)-Kinda has an “Oily” feel to him
Don Stenberg-Former NE Atty Gnl, Current NE State Treasurer 2 time US Senate Loser, Kinda GOP-Eish-small rino streak long time NE Pol.
Deb Fisher-Current NE State Senator-Kina New State-wide Conservative w/out Bruning’s “oil”
I’ve noticed that a lot of these mid-west & Western Republicans are basically ‘wet’ conservatives...aka liars and traitors to small/constitutional gov. Matter of fact a majority of the Repubs in DeeCee are not worth a spit!
Bruning... we do NOT need REASONABLE PEOPLE in Washington DC... we need people who'll CUT TAXES!!!
Donating to Stenberg
Not much polling data but here is one link
A couple of threads from a few days ago:
