François Hollande “to make Ségolène Royal most powerful politician in France”

He swapped her for a younger woman. Then she tried to stop him becoming president of France.

But François Hollande is on course to make former partner Ségolène Royal the most powerful female politician in the country, despite the bitterness of their separation after 30 years and four children together.

President-elect Hollande and fellow Socialist Royal still have their personal differences, and she does not get on with his current partner Valérie Trierweiler, a journalist 11 years her junior.

Only last year, while Hollande and his former partner were contesting the Socialist nomination for the presidency, Royal said: “Can anyone recall anything François Hollande has done in 30 years?”

But now Royal, 58, has indicated that she will become president of the National Assembly—France’s parliament—when Hollande announces his cabinet after his inauguration next week. The job is considered the most prestigious in France after president and prime minister.

She was asked on French television if it would be the right job for her. “I think so,” she replied with a beaming smile, adding that it would help her “diversify my experiences” and make her “more useful to the Left”.

Following (Hollande’s) election triumph over (Nicolas) Sarkozy on Sunday, Royal made an emotional speech at the Place de la Bastille in Paris, in which she placed herself at the center of a new movement sweeping the country.

She said: “Thank you, people of France! Thank you, one and all. This victory is yours. And we are here to turn this victory into social and human progress. And with us, the banks will obey instead of commanding. There will be resistance, you will see. The power of money is still there.” …

The Daily Mail’s penchant for excessively-long article titles has not abated; the title I used is the title that is in the “head” section of the page linked. Current title in use on the page:
Only in France! New President-elect makes his bitter ex and mother of his four children country’s most powerful woman (while still refusing to wed the “First Partner”)
Back on topic: this is certainly gearing up to be a massive mess for that country.

France is evidently due for an authoritarian radical socialist regime.

And, unlike the U.S., they knew what they were voting for. So, they're gonna deserve what they're gonna get.

If Francoise and Segolene are smarter than Barack, they'll consolidate their power before they pull the trapdoor on the economy.

I’ve known four-year-old girls that are far more reasonable than the left.

I have to say, if this were a sitcom sex-farce on a cable TV channel, it would not get past the 1st gate here in the US, yet it is real life in France, one of the 5 permanent UN Security Council Veto holders and nuclear club member. No wonder they laughed at us for the Clinton scandal, that was elementary school level for them.

Think of this story line, a year before this election in bad economic times, the leading candidate for the French opposition party, Dominique Strauss-Kahn (DSK), has a party in his room in New York City with a hotel maid. Depending upon which conspiracy you lean towards, he was set up by Socialist rivals, by the (now) losing Sarkozy party, by the US CIA, by IMF Rivals or ... take-your-pick. All that is really obvious is that this was not aberrant behavior on his part as he was well known for having frequent (zipper) flyer miles in his official job as head of the IMF.

Anyhow, despite claims and counter claims of innocence, DSK is replaced by an equally dedicated Socialist, Hollande, who also happens to be very rich, over his political rival, the mother of his children, Royal, equally Socialist and perhaps rich? Of course, Hollande, now has another POOSSLQ (how do the French describe these relationships, perhaps with shrugs?) and now seeks to spend France into glorious prosperity.

Any resemblance between certain US politicians like Obama and Kerry are obviously due to my fevered imagination.

French Revolution redux anyone? Certainly all those imported ‘civilized’ muzzies will take kindly to their new female beaches lording over them. Stench le French!
