Some prominent Black pastors have become staunchly critical of President Barack Obamas endorsement of gay marriage, with some who formerly backed and celebrated his ascent now turning their backs.
A Texas pastor who once led the Southern Baptist Convention in introducing a resolution that recognized Obamas historic achievement has voiced his displeasure with the presidents support and approval of gays, reports the Associated Baptist Press.
A Texas pastor who once led the Southern Baptist Convention in introducing a resolution that recognized Obamas historic achievement has voiced his displeasure with the presidents support and approval of gays, reports the Associated Baptist Press.
Dwight McKissic, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, wrote in a blog on May 9 that Obamas statements is worthy of incurring wrath of biblical proportions.
From McKissics blog:
President Obama has betrayed the Bible and the Black Church with his endorsement of same-sex marriage. The Bible is crystal clear on this subject, and the Black Church strongly opposes same-sex marriage. His endorsement is an inadvertent attack on the Christian Faith. America is now a candidate for the same judgment received by Sodom and Gomorrah. This was a sad, sad day and a very bad decision, by our beloved President. The moral impact of this day and decision is equal to the military impact of AL-Queda when they attacked the Twin Towers on 911. Todays announcement is a moral earthquake equivalent to a tsunami or hurricane that will have far more devastating results than Katrina.
McKissics stance mirrors that of many other Black church leaders who feel Obamas support of gay marriage is a direct slight to one of the major tenets of the Christian faith. So far, Rev. Al Sharpton has been the only visible religious leader to defend the presidents decision to publicly address this hot-button issue.
With many pastors speaking out against Obama, will his brave decision to support gay marriage be his downfall in November? And will Black people still support Obama in droves, despite the Black churchs displeasure with his gay marriage stance?
Give this Paster credit for having and holding to his principles under pressure.
Who else would think to look for this but me? ping!
IMO the more it appears that Obama is losing votes because of this or any reason.. the more the race card will be used to try to get those voters back.
This is not an “inadvertent attack” on the Christian faith. It is a DELIBERATE attack on it.
As for his “beloved” president.......Are we to assume the pastor agrees with all of the rest of Obama’s socialist/leftist policies then?
I don't think it's inadvertent at all. Obama's attacks on Christianity and his "change of heart" on gay marriage are deliberate and calculated.
I give this Pastor credit for standing up for his principles and values.
It takes courage nowadays to stand up and say that you believe marriage should be a man and a woman.
It takes NO courage or reasoning ability to say that you support homosexual marriage.
There is no price to be paid for supporting homosexual marriage in our current social/political climate.
But there is a potential severe price to be paid if you support traditional marriage and oppose homosexual marriage.
Pastors will be under increasing pressure in the years ahead. Among other issues, churches may be sued for “discrimination” for not performing homosexual marriages.
Churches could lose tax exempt status, or lose the legal ability to perform legally binding marriages, if they don’t go along with homosexual marriage. That has yet to be determined in court or legislatively, but, it’s a clear threat.
And we’re going through all of this to make 2% of the population, Lambda Legal, and Rachel Maddow happy.......................
I agree....however, let the Lord redeem this man, hence his congregation, a step at a time.
Do a bear go poo poo in the woods?
lol. like sharpton is a religious leader...yeah, the first church of race baiting.
Now this is a man to be proud of. A good Christian who is not afraid to stand up for his faith.
Most blacks believe in the Federal Government to protect and take care of them. A brief look at history show why this is true : the Federal Civil Rights Act and the voting rights Act, and all those movies like Mississippi Burning with the FBI versus the KKK. I don't see any way to break that bond. But it is possible to convince many of them to not vote (for Obama) even if they don't vote for Romney.
In fact the short lived support that GWB got from some blacks in 2004 involved them believing that the Federal government would save us from Bin Laden. That all dissipated with Iraq progression. But it was the same theme as above.
As a side note, it was the libs that outed Obama on this and forced him to make that statement on marriage. Obama wanted to avoid this happening until after the election.
I find that Obama’s opinion that gay marraige should be legalized will do him in and lose his second term the way Old Man Bush’s stand on Read My Lips, No New Taxes! Even though Bush was rather liked, he wasn’t re-elected because his republican followers felt he was not standing on the same principals that they elected him for and should be taught a lesson!
There is no black church... there is only “the church”. Soon as Christians recognize only one God, in three persons, not the demigod of “social justice” then we be talkin... ahhh, they’ll vote for him anyway, just cuz he’s a cuz...
Color me skeptical-—if blacks do show up at the ballot box they aint voting for the Willard One—gay marriage aside.
Why is it millions of Americans could see this coming. But not this pastor?
I too chagrined at that phrase "black church."
In the 70's, it was a strong message by all, (parents, church and teachers) to be and live "color - blind.
30 plus years later . . . Pretender Abomination speaks so much of color and race its kinda hard to separate the issues without looking at color.
In any case, good for this pastor to speak out. Am waiting for others to speak boldly. The silence is deafening
Exactly. Like Obama and Bill Ayers knew, violence only gets you so far.
Obama is finishing up for Osama.
Just gotta dont ya.
Always always bash the Bushes.
America is soo past the Bushes, catch up would ya?

President Obamas Bagram Air Field Address.
May 1, 2012
My fellow Americans, weve traveled through dark cloud of discrimination in our military for too long.
Here, in the pre-dawn darkness of Afghanistan where we meet to help produce an ad for my reelection we see the light of new day of tolerance about to break on the horizon for our military and nation.
I am here today to apologize to the thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered men and women who have served their nation faithfully over these many years, but were forced to live a lie.
I am here to offer the hope of change!
For decades gay soldiers were forced to deny who they are, suffering under the flawed policies of the past that forbid same-sex loving in the ranks. No More!
This year my administration fought hard to put those antiquated restrictions aside. Now, thanks to our hard work, gay soldiers may choose to love openly in our armed forces.
When I was elected, I set the goal to defeat right wing bigots where ever we find them. Soon, we succeeded in eliminating the hypocritical Dont ask, dont tell scourge upon our land.
Now for the first time, gay soldiers may date, marry, kiss before battle, play with soap and openly greet their partners with passion upon returning home.
Over the last three and a half years, my administration has been in direct discussion with gay rights groups to move forward on this glorious cause.
With this new policy the American people, and the world, should know that gay people have a friend and a partner in the United States military.
Our momentous actions mean that full Gay Rights is now within our reach! May that day break into a noon day sun upon our land.
Thank you and may something truly bigger-than-our-selves, such as God, Allah or Gia, bless America!
like sharpton is a religious leader...yeah, the first church of race baiting.
“Church of Black Retribution & Positive Cash Flow”
Rev. Al Sharpton
I wish some of these black GOP candidates would start circulating material in their distrricks directly asking their black constituents this question
What the hell has Obama relly done for you ?
With Al and Jesse, it’s either “follow the money “ or “follow the honey”
Let’s Pray......
and deliver us from EVIL,
and Obama!
AMEN
First of all, Sharpton is not a “pastor”. Second, they’ll condemn obama then they’ll say they’re going to pray for him and vote for him.
The crazy thing is that Obama is a white Communist.
You KNOW in the end they will vote for him.
It will be very interesting to see if the 96% that voted for him do so again.
On Election Day he will get his 95% of the Black vote BUT that Black vote will be considerably smaller than it was in 2008.
Why didn’t he hold the same opinion about Obama’s support for abortion? I’m glad this Christian pastor is speaking the truth about Obama’s stance on homosexual marriage...but where was he on Obama’s stance on abortion? Guess what? God hates murder, too. Yet most Black churches supported Obama, despite that.
Thanks sickoflibs.
Will they all vote again at all?
Many blacks that voted in 2008 normally don't vote and just registered that year because Obama was on the ticket. You think they all are enthused again? Ever hear of the terms ‘turnout’ or ‘enthusiasm’??
Of course they won't vote for Romney.
I don’t think “the One” scored any points with his backers in Islamdom with this position.
The problem with being given a four year free ride is not having had any real opposition, he is incapable of dealing with a fair political fight.
Sort of like an army that has been in garrison for years having to fight troops who are combat tested.
That’s it.

Nope
As kevcol said, key word will be 'Trayvon.' "If Trybon were alive he would vote for obama. Vote in memory of Travon!" And I'm sure they will make up some other event to get folks even more worked up.
Well smarty pants, if you can come up with a better reason why Old Man Bush lost the election other than “Read My Lips, No New Taxes!”, then spit it out! It was bad enough he also gave us the Liberal piss ass Supreme Court Justice “Souter”, which has made a lot of conservatives realize just how naive we have been with the Republican Bushes! All though the Bushes are a 1000 times better than Obama or Clintons, the realization of how much the Bushes have played knowingly or naively into the hands of the liberals, is frightening! By going along with this One Worlder Concept of governing, only makes one believe that both parties have been infiltrated with this socialistic Global approach to governing America, which is a Far Far Cry from our Constitution!
It's a small minority of GAYS, let alone people in the USA, who want to "gay marry." The notion has sold among "gays" much more for its sake in normalizing "gayness" than for something that most would ever consider doing themselves.
There will be a whale of a lot of sit-outs.
You live in a swing state too. At least your vote counts there.
As far as 2008 goes, I learned long ago to never vote for a Democrat no matter how sweet they talk, but Republicans keep on putting up these crappy candidates both 2008 and this year. It's very depressing.
