Additional charges filed against White House shooter
By Justin Sink - 05/11/12 04:57 PM ET
The man accused of shooting an assault rifle at the White House in November has been indicted on two additional counts, according to a report from The Associated Press.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, 21, a resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was already facing 17 charges stemming from an incident in which he is accused of firing at the presidential residence. Neither President Obama nor first lady Michelle Obama were at the White House at the time.
The Secret Service said one of the bullets fired by Ortega broke a pane of the White Houses exterior glass before being stopped by a second pane of stronger glass. Another bullet was found embedded in the exterior of the White House.
The new inducement adds an additional firearms charge, as well as accuses Ortega of "injury to a dwelling." The latter charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
Ortega's attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf during a hearing Friday.
They’re just shooting out the windows of the white house that Americans are too lazy to shoot out themselves.
Injury to a dwelling is 20 years. If the wind catches the door when you finally leave and the latch snaps... 20 years in jail.
19 charges stemming from one incident!
It is possible that we have reached the point where we have more laws than criminals...
I think it’s called piling on.
Injury to a dwelling?
Hey, it was going into foreclosure anyway.
20 years is a loooooooooooooooooooong time.
I would encourage piling on. That White House is my American White House. I don’t care if he ever sees the light of day. He should have shot at beer cans.
Yeah!! It’s my White House too, and it hurts me to see it used as a toilet by it’s present occupant.
Still no excuse for shooting at it.
Frustration leads to stupidity.
They need to see if the DEA or FBI undercover informants can get some of those grenades or 50 Cal. Automatic weapons like they do for the amigo's on the border.
Using a peashooter against a building made of concrete, steel, and bulletproof glass seems pointless.
"No, it is not."
It is owned by a corporation headquartered in the District of Columbia, separate from and having different 'laws' than the 50 United States. IT and the title deed to the land of North America (via the eminent domain clause), is owned by a consortium of international bankers known as the FRB.
They have been trading off America's assets to pay off the Red Chinese whom they borrowed money from. For instance, the CASH FOR CLUNKERS deal was because China didn't want cash, they needed STEEL. So... they forced us to scrap all those vehicles... and you never saw them again. Compressed into square blocks and loaded onto ships headed to China.
Very possible.
