We usually have over 1.5 million people show up for a Presidential primary in Virginia. Romney got about 10% of that number.

A little hyperbole there. You had 489,252 in the 2008 Republican primary. About 662,000 in 2000.

And about 265,000 this year, so interest was way down to be sure, but not dramatically down 90% as you stated.

“I don’t like you, and I don’t need you. You are unimportant to me, but you *have* to vote for me because I am the chosen one, and if you don’t, Obama will be reelected.”

Thank you for your excellent explanation of what happened at GCU!

And thank you for the above quote. You have distilled the essence of the GOPe's attitude down to two sentences.

Mr. L on the Ron Paul moonbats...

From my experiences, there are four types of Ron Paul supporters.

1. Polite, libertarian, well-spoken (10%)
2. OWS didn’t want us so we’re with Paul (50%)
3. Typical moonbat...pass the meds (35%)
4. Batsh*t scary!!! (5%)

Mitt Romney 158,053 59.5% final tally in Virginia primary 2012. That's just about 10%.

Remember, we have OPEN PRIMARIES with lots of folks doing crossover voting.

That's Romney's level of support in the general election coming ~ where there were about 3,700,000 votes in 2008, with Obama winning the state. 4% of demonstrable support is really just nonsense. Romney did not show that he can win if you take a cold, hard, calculated look at Virginia's normal voting patterns!

The primary process is obviously not serving the interests of the people.

I'm not a Paul supporter but I'm very happy to read Josh Romney’s speech to state GOP members was cut short by jeers from Paul backers at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

His son should STFU - his pro homo pro baby killing CULT father is not capable of turning anything around - he is evil to the core. For 3+ years, he unmercifully la$hed out at two would COULD/WOULD turn anything around - Sarah and Newt.

Exactly. Newt had zero chance of winning the nomination while Rick Santorum at least had a long shot. Those long shot chances were reduced to zero by their relentless yammering.

Exactly. Newt had zero chance of winning the nomination while Rick Santorum at least had a long shot.

But why would we want an anti-business, pro-union candidate. The only reason Santorum had a shot was because the pro-union democrats were crossing over because they had no primary. It was a win win situation. Obama, pro-union, Santorum, pro-union.
Newt was pro-business. The unions did not like that.

You, and most Mormons, are utterly ignorant of what Mormonisn is. Romney is not. Romney is a part of the inner circle of Mormonism, and would be just as dangerous as obama. They are both Luciferians.

Why are you fighting Ron Paul?

He cannot win at this point, but he can derail Romney enough to throw the convention open, and give us a chance at another candidate.

Paul’s people are doing us a big favor.

Unless a brokered convention comes through, he is all we’ve got. Unless you want BO.

A very bright FReeper put it this way,

“So let’s say you are stranded out in the desert, on the verge of dying of thirst. As you stagger through the hot dry sands, in a desperate attempt to find water, You come across a case of a popular sports drink half buried in a shade of a sand dune.

Frantically, you claw away at the sand until you fully uncover the case of life-saving liquid refreshment.

Grabbing one of the bottles, you rub away the sand and dirt so that you can read the ingredients... “Damn,” you mutter to yourself, “High Fructose Corn Syrup! I can’t drink that, bad for my health!” So you toss the bottle aside in disgust and continue on your way, eventually dropping dead several miles away.

And so that is how I see this upcoming election. Romney not only is loaded with high fructose corn syrup, he’s loaded with red dye #3, trans-fats and all sorts of artificial junk. But the alternative is drinking Kool-Aid served up by Jim Jones and the People’s Temple. “

Or Glenn Beck’s way....

1. Do you know anyone who has the understanding and gained their understanding of Jesus Christ and defend it, and they got that understanding from someone like Jeremiah Wright? Do you know anyone who is a good Christian that believes there is no salvation unless there’s collective salvation?

2. Do you know somebody who is raised and/or mentored by communists?

3. Do you have friends or acquaintances that are Marxists, Communists, or have been actively engaged in the overthrow of the United States government?

4. Have you ever been at a party celebrating someone who has been accused of domestic terrorism?

5. Do you know anyone or have you ever been to a party and gave a toast to someone who is accused of being a Muslim terrorist?

6. Do you or any of your friends have the belief that terrorism doesn’t really exist? And that by definition jihad is only a holy struggle?

7. How many of you or how many of your friends have hired members of the Muslim Brotherhood to provide security for your business or their business? Or would hire members of the Muslim Brotherhood to go through and put together your security for your town?

8. Do you have any friends that believe the Muslim Brotherhood is largely secular and good?

9. Do you know anybody that thinks NASA’s foremost goal should be Muslim outreach, so you can help them and NASA can help them feel good?

10. Do you know anybody who believes that Occupy Wall Street features the best people in our country right now?

11. Is it even conceivable that anyone you know or associate with would think that killing Osama Bin Laden was a tough decision? With that, you have a single friend who in that case would make sure that we have a “blame someone else” memo ready just in case it went wrong?

12. Do you have anybody in your circle of friends or your circle of influence that believes America and Israel is the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the world. Do you know anyone who believes the United States constitution needs to be a photo negative to be right with the world today?

13. Would you or anyone you know take a gift given to the United States after 9/11, a bust of Winston Churchill, and try to give it back to the prime minister on your first meeting? And when he says, “No, no, that’s a gift, you can keep it,” would you or anyone in your circle of influence then take that bust, box it up, ship it back yourself and say “We don’t need it anymore”?

14. Do you know anyone, a single person, who has a wife or a husband that has never been proud of the United States of America until something good happened in their life?

15. Do you know anybody who would actively defend allowing a baby to die without treatment in a hospital if an abortion failed? That the baby would be born outside, the doctors would have it, and they would be allowed to put it in a closet and just let it die?

16. Would someone in your life withhold needed money from poor countries or suggest that needed money from poor countries was withheld unless they change the Constitution to be pro-abortion?

17. Do you know anybody who believes the only way out of debt is to spend $5 trillion in three and a half years? Or believes Solyndra and other green businesses were a good bet, and that the people’s hard earned money is something you should gamble with and you think that it should continue?

18. How many people do you know personally that would give a shout out to someone to say, “Hey, I just want to say hi to Bob over there and thank Bob – It’s been a great day, Bob,” before you had to announce to the country that 13 soldiers were murdered by an Islamic extremist on our own soil?

19. Do you know anybody who claims to be a huge Israeli supporter? Do you know anybody who says, “I’m the biggest fan of Israel, they’re our biggest and strongest ally, and I’m a huge supporter. I’m the best thing that has happened.” And that when the prime minister of that country flew from the other side of the globe to have a scheduled dinner with you, you would humiliate him and blow off for dinner? Let him eat alone while you had a quiet dinner someplace else with friends? Do you know anybody who says, “I am the biggest supporter of Israel,” and then visited all of the Muslim countries around Israel but couldn’t find the time to go to Israel? And that as Israel’s biggest, most loyal supporter, believes they should go back to the indefensible ’67 borders? I understand it if you’re not a fan of Israel, but if you’re a fan of Israel, do you know a soul that is a true fan of Israel that says, “Yes, go back to the ’67 borders”?

20. Do you know any committed capitalist who believes in redistribution of wealth?

"The Paul supporters have to be some of the most obnoxious supporters of any candidate I've ever seen. I truly can't stand Paul. That said, I don't care for Romney much either and only prefer him to Paul because he doesn't support legalizing drugs and prostitution and isn't a whacko on foreign policy."

A co-worker and loyal Ron Paul supporter recently went to her home state GOP convention (Nevada). She said that the state Republican parties are corrupt and cheat in order to install the GOP candidate of choice (ie chosen by the elite Republican leaders). This year (apparently, at least so far) Ron Paul delegates dominated the Nevada state convention. But from what I understand, they (Ron Paul supporters) have been sidelined, sidestepped, outmaneuvered with obscure rules, and just plain old ignored for quite a few election cycles.

Can't say that I support Ron Paul or that I defend his supporters or their behaviour. I know very little about the man or his supporters. Except that I am led to believe that he can win votes from Republicans, Independants, and Democrats too. Supposedly. He is anti-Federal Reserve, and anti-war. That about sums up what I know about him.

But I can say that I find it interesting the way the media is ignoring Sen Paul, in spite of the fact that he has many delegates. IMHO our 2-party system is a corrupt, force-fed, symbiotic / incestuous system that does no credit to our Republic.

If he gets the nomination, I will vote for him; figure out who I am talking about --maybe either of them, I dunno. Guess I am saying that I am enough ready for a change that I can put up with Ron Paul's peculiarities. Any anti-federal reserve candidate is bound to have some peculiarities.

To: yefragetuwrabrumuy
This is an excellent summary of the situation, from what I have heard and read:

Quoting yefragetuwrabrumuy's post in it's entirety:

"In all fairness, the Paul backers were behaving themselves for the most part, and they were clearly the majority in the room, until Josh Romney lit a fire under them. "

" To explain why this annoyed them so much, is because they had put in the work at the ground level, as they have in several states, to insure that, no matter the popular vote in those states, the delegates actually sent to the convention are Paul supporters. This is not underhanded or cheating in any way, just that they took the time to learn the rules in each state, so as to maximize their effect at the convention, no matter who they are supposed to support on the first ballot."

" But this meant that at this meeting, there were two different slates of delegate candidates. Those who are supporters of Romney, many of whom didn’t even bother to attend, and were just filling the role of “somebody” who would go to the convention if they were chosen, to cast a “whatever” ballot for Romney; and dedicated and determined Paul supporters. People who care and have worked hard."

" And Josh Romney then told this room full of Paul supporters that, “for party unity”, they should elect a slate of Romney supporters instead of going to the convention themselves."

" This is little more than the sneering contempt that the onerous Mitt Romney has shown for both Paul supporters *and* conservatives and their ideas, from the very start."

" 'I don’t like you, and I don’t need you. You are unimportant to me, but you *have* to vote for me because I am the chosen one, and if you don’t, Obama will be reelected.' "

" To hell with that a-hole. While I do not personally support Ron Paul, though I like a lot of his ideas that overlap with conservative ideas, that only he has the chutzpah to say; I think that conservatives will owe him a GIANT favor if his people can block the onerous Romney from getting the nomination, so that a conservative can."

" And that’s important, because by themselves, Paul’s supporters can’t get him the nomination. But just about *any* conservative would be a better nominee and president."

" This is really about saving our country. If Ron Paul’s people can help conservatives do that, then they are our brothers."

To say the least I am somewhat distressed to find that the folks who think the Paulbots are terribly impolite are the same folks who find Romney delightful.

Actually, Romney isn't likeable at all ~ he's also terribly impolite, and his followers are among the most obnoxious people I've ever encountered on the internet.

And I'm not even a Paul supporter.

So, what is it gang, are the Paul supporters "obnoxious" because you want us to believe they are, or are they "obnoxious'?

I suspect it's a coverup

May I add that when the failure to put together a Virginia Republican Primary was laid bare for all too see the Mittbots blamed it on "others" not learning and following all the rules.

Now they kvetch when "others' learn those rules and take away their delegates.

I'm feeling so sorry for them ~ NOT.
