Gay marriage gives Romney chance to fire up base (Obama puts nails in own coffin)
The Washington Times ^ | 05/13/12 | Seth McLaughlin

While many Republicans consider the sudden emergence of gay marriage as an issue in the 2012 presidential campaign an unhelpful distraction, social conservatives Sunday insisted the Obama administration has given presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney an opportunity. “I think the president this past week took six or seven states he carried in 2008 and put them in play with this one ill-conceived position that he’s taken,” American Values President Gary Bauer said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think that Barack Obama has helped fit that missing piece of intensity that Mitt Romney is going to need,” Tony Perkins, president of the conservative Christian organization Family Research Council, said on CBS‘ “Face the Nation.”

Seems like a gift but you knew it wouldnt be long before obama would do this.

What Republicans all should have been saying on the Sundays shows yesterday was that this was Obama trying to firm up his liberal base support, and that it was sign of weakness that he isn’t confident of having them already behind him, and he doing it instead of going for Independents . That would had made more than a few Dems soil their panties.

The MSM might have picked that up if they all said it.

Methinks we have Birdbrain Biden to thank for all this. If Biden was walking through a sterile field, he, and only he, would find a pile of shit to step in.

The gay vote will never equal the black church vote that he has lost.

Yeah, but I suspect this is a honeypot for Romney.

Sooner or later, Romney is going to attempt to widen the tent, so to speak, and is going to “moderate” his stance on gay marriage back towards what it once was when he was in Mass.

End result?

Negates any advantage among unaffiliateds for Romney, while requenching the base. Meanwhile, Obama comes out of it with a fired up base come November, and a breakeven among the mushy middle.

I think it was Valerie Jarrett who thought this would be a prize idea.

Maybe...But Romney needs to stand by the differences between him and Obama...not try and move any closer to him.

Just hold on a minute.

Mitt Romney isn’t done talking himself into Brack Obozo’s position yet.

Obozo holds the nail and, Rumney let’s Obozo hit him in the thumb.

The gay vote will never equal the black church vote that he has lost.

Obama could make Lucifer his next running mate and the black church voters would still back him. Blacks see every criticism of Obama as prejudiced and bigoted and will never judge him on his merits or character, only on the color of his skin. How soon they’ve forgotten the words of Martin Luther King’s great speech.

Gays are more inclined to run the gambit of ideology. We only hear from the minority of militants while the majority will vote country first. Gays experience unemployment, foreclosure, hopelessness and the shortcomings of politics just like everyone else and I suspect they see through the attempted manipulation of their community into a faceless voting block.

The gays I’ve met in this gay town of Palm Springs are generally conservative. While some are for gay marriage, many are fine with domestic partnerships or setting up partnerships with legal protections. They can appoint Power of attorney, do end of life directives, create joint accounts, have joint ownership of property and even do name changes if necessary.

While Obama and Romney have different views on gay marriage, they hold the exact same policy stance on gay marriage.

Gay marriage? The Bible? Christian beliefs? Polygamy?

So when Mitt says Marriage has been ‘one man and one woman for thousands of years’ he does so as a person whose faith rewrote the cultural norms of marriage as recently as 21 years before Reagan was born? It’s a heck of a plan.

This is the only economically related issue Obama can talk about, e.g., funding for his never-ending campaign for re-election - now Zero can pander to Gays for $$ as donations... Maybe he should tax their lifestyle at the same time to raise revenue for govt coffers.

The reason the Mormons resorted to polygamy was because “Christians” massacred most of the males of the Mormon faith.

Until people start dissing O for his family background I don’t want to hear it about the Mormons.

BTW, not Mormon, but there sure are better topics to discuss than the polygamy of Mitt’s great-grandfather. Such as the little issue of not having a clue about 0’s mixed-up heritage.
