Posted on 05/14/2012 3:17:05 PM PDT by Kaslin
CNN's Don Lemon Sunday evening compared Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to former Alabama governor George Wallace.
At the beginning of a CNN Newsroom segment he calls "No Talking Points," Lemon played a clip of Wallace saying in 1963, "I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever" followed by Romney saying Saturday, "Marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
Video DON LEMON: It is time now for No Talking Points. Alright, I'm going to warn you because I'm going to tick a whole lot of people off here. The subject tonight: words that come back to haunt you.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
GEORGE WALLACE, FORMER GOVERNOR ALABAMA: And I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
LEMON: Honestly, can you imagine having uttered those words in front of television cameras or being one of those people in the crowd cheering on Alabama's governor George Wallace? That wasn't so long ago. It was the 1960s. Now think about how far we have come, and think about what this might sound like a few decades from now.

MITT ROMNEY: Marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman.
There of course are a number of serious problems with this comparison.
First off, for many Americans opposed to same-sex marriage, it's a religious issue and not merely homophobia.
Lemon should know this because during his program Sunday evening, he interviewed black religious leaders about this very subject. Some of their quotes were included in this NTP segment.
Let's be honest. The concern Barack Obama has had with divulging his true feelings about this subject, and why he first flipflopped on it in 2008, is the fear that Evangelicals not enthused by John McCain four years ago or Romney today would be energized by him coming out of the closet so to speak.
Syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan said on this weekend's McLaughlin Group Obama has "instantly solved the biggest problem Mitt Romney had which is how to energize and rally the social conservatives and the Evangelicals. They are now singing 'Onward Christian Soldiers' and riding to the sound of the guns on this issue."
Gallup reported Friday that twice as many people are less likely to vote for Obama because of this flipflop than are more likely.
On Monday, Gallup revealed that 42 percent of Americans still view gay or lesbian relations as "morally unacceptable."
As such, for many in this country, same-sex marriage is a religious issue and not a civil rights matter.
Sadly, as America's secular press do a victory lap for Obama's flipflop, they're missing this distinction.
Also of concern regarding the blending of this issue with civil rights is the implication that folks opposed to same-sex marriage are racist.
With America's first black president seeking reelection, this acts as a double whammy to gin up anger on the Left.
But will it work?
The reality is Obama and his devoted media would like nothing more than to discuss anything but the economy for the next five and a half months.
If the headlines and airwaves are filled with the culture war right up to the first Tuesday in November, they think they've got a winning hand.
The polls at the moment certainly don't reflect that, and one can hear those guns Buchanan talked about all over America's heartland.
This might very well be one of those times that liberal elites on the coasts, particularly in Manhattan, have once again badly misjudged the temper of the nation, and are miles ahead of the parade unable to hear the music.
We will know in the fullness of time.
Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, Ex-Klansman
by Michelle Malkin (March 8, 2001)
Ex-Klansman Robert Byrd, the senior senator from West Virginia, casually used the phrase "white nigger" twice on national TV this weekend. Enraged civil rights groups organized a protest campaign against Sen. Byrd and demanded that he undergo sensitivity training ... not.
The ex-Klansman, you see, is a Democrat. Democrats can join hate groups and utter the ugliest racial slurs and get away with it because they are Democrats. They belong to the party of racial tolerance and understanding. They're paragons of virtue, and the rest of us are bigoted rubes.
The ex-Klansman showed his true colors when asked by Fox News Sunday morning talk show host Tony Snow about the state of race relations in America. Sen. Byrd warned: "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
In 1942, 24-year-old Byrd joined the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), whose parades in Matoaka, West Virginia, he had witnessed in his childhood. He was unanimously elected Exalted Cyclops, or leader, of his local chapter.
Byrd, in his autobiography, attributed the beginnings of his political career to this incident, although he lamented that they involved the Klan. According to Byrd, a KKK official told him "You have a talent for leadership, Bob... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd recalls that "suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did." He participated in the KKK during World War II, holding the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops [the top officer in the local Klan unit]. He did not serve in the military during the war, working instead as a welder in a Baltimore, Maryland shipyard, where he helped build warships.
Byrd commented on the 1945 controversy about racially integrating the military. Byrd, when he was 28 years old, wrote to segregationist Senator Theodore Bilbo, of Mississippi, vowing never to serve in such a military:
"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
He had earlier written "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side".
YouTube - Senator Robert Byrd says "white niggers" on TV:
From the Washington Post:
"Byrd said in the Dec. 11, 1945, letter -- which would not become public for 42 more years with the publication of a book on blacks in the military during World War II by author Graham Smith -- that he would never fight in the armed forces "with a Negro by my side." Byrd added that, "Rather I should die a thousand times, and see old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.."..."
"during the general election campaign, Byrd's GOP opponent uncovered a letter Byrd had handwritten to Green, the KKK Imperial Wizard, recommending a friend as a Kleagle and urging promotion of the Klan throughout the country. The letter was dated 1946 -- long after the time Byrd claimed he had lost interest in the Klan. "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia," Byrd wrote, according to newspaper accounts of that period. Byrd makes no mention of the letter in his new book."
Wallace is a whole lot more like Obama... both democrats, control freaks, opportunists and two faced liars with a press that covers for them...... t\
Therefore, all people who stand up for a position they believe is principled, will always, therefore, be wrong and will be judged so by an enlightened society.
Now that's some great logic!
"Now, I realize that for some Americans, this is an important issue. And I should say that, personally, I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman." -- Barack Obama, 2006
"I believe that marriage is a union between a man and a woman ... For me as a christian, it is also a sacred union ... God is in the mix." -- Barack Obama, 2008.
Does this mean Obama really is a racist?
It’s on my bucket list to go wiz on his grave before I die.
All Mitt has to do is remind him of this!
"My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit."
"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal".--James (Jim) Cone,
African American Religious Thought: An Anthology (Paperback)
by Cornel West (Editor), Eddie S. Glaude Jr. (Editor)
SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?
Malik Zulu Shabazz, chairman of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (NBPP):
"We believe in a Black first philosophy and a Black Liberation Theology."
Shock Photos: Candidate Obama Appeared And Marched With New Black Panther Party in 2007:
“Gov. George Wallace was the protest candidate of his day (Ron Paul without the peacecreeps) because many saw Humphrey and Nixon as two peas in a pod, just like Obama and Milt.”
Nobody remembers that. Or rather, nobody really “wants” to remember that. It’s just too untidy.
Seriously, when it comes to unfounded lies and character assassination we haven't seen anything yet from the left. They know their boy is in a world of hurt 'cause he's eff'd up the economy, run up the national debt and basically hosed over everyone like no-one has ever done before. They can't possibly win a straight up election, so they're going to skew it and try to steal it any way they can.
I can remember watching Gov. Wallace being shot on tv. That and my mother screaming.
Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon are both homosexuals. Check it out. CNN is now the official GAYNETWORK
Speaking of George Wallace, has anyone else besides me had the thought that Bill Maher looks exactly like a dead ringer for an aging George Wallace? Same slicked-back hair (but Maher’s is graying), same boxer’s bashed nose, same beady black eyes, same lips, same height. Freakish.
Don lemon is a stupid, lying, racist hack. Since he’s black, it’s OK.
Don hit the Daily Double, he’s black AND gay.
Are you still beating your significant other, Don?
Obama is not a Christian, in spite of his 2008 election claims.
He is on record saying that Jesus is a historical figure but not the only way to salvation.
His mama taught him to be skeptical of organized religion and his own Christian upbringing came from a former muslim named Jeremiah Wright.
He needs to pull the wool over the black community’s collective eyes. He lied to them in 2008 about his stance on homosexuality and abortion. If they vote for him this time, knowing his wide-stance apart from their own beliefs, they will have to do so knowing it violates the church teachings they’ve been brought up with their whole lives.
Queers marrying each other was a bizarre fringe idea until recently, they didn’t even want marriage themselves, but somehow telling them no is like segregation. Ok.
The want marriage for the same reason they needed DADT repeal : full legacy to throw in our faces.
The Morning Joe cited a number of new polls this morning and they were disastrous for Obama, the key one was that >65% say Obama did this (gay evolution announcement) for politics not principle. He couldn't get the MSM to all repeat that crap about his kids and the troops he gave in his interview like MSBC was doing.
One reason this backfired because it looks like Obama is playing politics, firming up his liberal base support, while Rome is burning; and he is.
At a job interview yesterday and to my dissapointment, the lobby of the company had on CNN and I thought my ears were going to explode....It was 20 minutes of torment!!!!!
The Supreme Court legalized sodomy, and now the Democrat Party wants to institutionalize it.
Ironically in Maryland many couples pay a higher tax rate married than if they stayed single due to the AMT. These are college educated couples earning more than $100K each.
“One reason this backfired because it looks like Obama is playing politics, firming up his liberal base support, while Rome is burning; and he is. “
Big mistake....keep it up, Obammunist.
