There is more to the story, the author of the bill let it sit in his committee for 8 weeks and then released it with just enough time so that the house republicans would have no time to review and make changes before voting on it. If it was so important why did the gay activist legislator employ the democrat tactic of passing a bill then look at what is in it.
Then the always leftist hack Democrat Governor John DickinPooper demands a special session to get this vital legislation passed. Jobs bills, not so much.
Hick-when he was campaigning attended a Valentines Day Gay Event where he said he thought homosexuals should be allowed to marry. When given the opportunity to pres that issue he pushed the State Legislature into special session to advance his despotic intent. The People voted NO! to Ref I Civil Unions. If we are all now like the Reprobate Ferrendino suggests as Sodom or like unto Gomorrah then the oppressive State can manifest contempt for the people and advance immorality at will.
