D.C.’s mayor holds up gun rights
The Washington Times ^ | 15 May, 2012 | Emily Miller

Washington gun owners’ rights are, once again, getting blown off by city leaders. While the city council voted unanimously on April 17 in favor of a bill to ease restrictions on Second Amendment rights, Mayor Vincent Gray has not signed the bill into law.

The mayor’s spokesman Pedro Ribeiro has not responded to my repeated requests for an explanation. The council’s website shows the legislation had not been updated since it passed.

But on Friday, the bill suddenly appeared as having been transmitted for mayoral review on Wednesday. Members of the council had expected the mayor to sign the bill within days of passage.

The longer the legislation sits untouched on Mr. Gray's desk, the longer prospective gun owners have to struggle under the strictest gun laws in the country.

He's just doing what Obama is doing on a grandiose scale. Both ignoring, subverting and flouting established law, Constitutional or otherwise. Obama/Holder's Department of Justice is wholly dedicated only to equality (actually, supremacy) for minorities (i.e., NOT whites).

I can see why criminals love an unarmed population... but why do mayors?

DC has been a Democrat enclave since it left the 3 Commisioners and started with Mayors.

DC is a total failure as a Home Rule city,if it weren’t for it’s Federal payment and Federal jobs it would be bankrupt. It is a major Welfare area. Filled with federal jobs, it has the worst Educational system in the country as well as the most expensive, and still it requires Affirmative action for most of it’s denizens to get hired. Obamacare will help with the jobless rate there, as it will hire these folks to watch over it.

DC has some of the most educational and beautiful places to be seen anywhere and yet a tourist must be careful after dark and must never set foot in certain neighborhoods.

A year or so ago we happened to visit Gettysburg and thereabouts. Someone told me something I found very interesting. He said, "Yeah -- the closer you get to Washington DC, the more nervous they get about citizens possessing firearms..."

Sounds like a grand conspiracy to me!!!

Is there a law that says how long a mayor can sit on a bill he doesn’t like? I’d file suit and collect legal fees again from the city. That’s the only language they understand when they see theyselves above the law.

I guess D.C. doesn’t want people to defend themselves. The question being, why?

I’ve said it before to Emily. Move. Today. This is going to devolve into a never ending series bureaucratic road blocks.

On a later thread the people were lucky they lived in the state of Washington, not Washington DC.

"He goes 'Nobody's getting out of here alive. I got 24 rounds for my shotgun, I plan using them all,'" he said.

Yes the mayor really cares about the safety of the citizens of Washington DC as well as The Constitution of The United States.(/s)

Because most politicians have a criminal or guilty mindset. They fear an armed population. If they were honest and law abiding people, they wouldn’t have a problem with the population owning any kind of firearms.

The fact that politicians do have a problem with citizens owning firearms should tell us all just how much of a bunch of scum bags we truly have for leaders. It also tells just how much we can trust them... which is not at all.

The only politicians I’ll trust are the ones that work diligently to repeal ALL gun control laws. That includes the 1968 GCA and the machine gun ban.

Don't know, except to note that DC has a history of having criminals AS mayor.
