Newt: Rubio Will Make Great President Someday (Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage V.P. means "REBELLION!")

But when asked what Gingrich would do if Romney tapped him for vice president, the former House speaker says in an interview with Newsmax TV:

“I would ask him to think long and hard about why he was doing that.

“I think he’s probably going to tap someone who’s younger, somebody who brings significant ability to help win the election this fall, and we have a number of very exciting people, whether you’re talking about Senator Marco Rubio in Florida, Senator Rob Portman [in Ohio], Senator Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire, people like Condi Rice, former secretary of State. We have a lot of talent in the Republican Party.

“You ask three things about a potential vice president. One, could they be president? Two, are they philosophically broadly compatible with the nominee? And three, can they help you win the election? You ask them in that order. There are a number of first-rate talents he could pick that would strengthen the ticket and our chances of winning this fall.”

Asked if Rubio would make a good vice president, Gingrich responds: “Sure. I think he’d make a good president someday. He’s a very very smart, very competent person.”

Gingrich also says there are no potential candidates who would concern him if selected as Romney’s running mate.

He adds: “I’m assuming they’re going to pick somebody who is pro-life and I assume they’re going to pick somebody who believes marriage is between a man and a woman, because those are the two key issues that would lead to a genuine rebellion in the party.

“But given that those are both Romney’s positions, he shouldn’t find any difficulty having somebody who agrees with him on those two issues.” [LOL, /sarc?]

If conservatives fold and vote for Romney, the GOPe will know they can do it every time.

That occurred in 2008 with the nomination of RINO John McCain.

“It’s time to totally clean house when the Constitution is so openly disregarded. Rubio is ineligible to serve as VP or President.”

The Constitution does NOT define “natural born citizen” nor does Emerich de Vattel, who wrote before the founding of the USA.

He described NBC for Switzerland as having two citizen parents, but went on to note other countries held different definitions, notably Britain.

So natural born equals native born, or born to two citizen parents abroad.

“No, he is eligible. Rubio was born in Florida and his parents had been naturalized by the time of his birth.”

That’s a lie.

The article you submitted is a wacko piece.

I hope no one falls for it.

“For example, John McCain, though born in Panama, is eligible for the presidency, because he became a citizen at birth.”

Totally wrong and a lie. He never was or never will be eligible for the presidency.

“I wouldn’t vote for Romney under any circumstance personally.”

Count me in with you.

It was never “conservative”. Human Events is a Libertarian magazine. And Rubio was born in Miami so you’re wrong twice.

Martinez for Veepee!

If you are talking about our Susana, I am of a mixed mind. She is conservative, but not all that experienced, especially on a Federal level. That could be a good or a bad thing. I do have a problem picturing her as President. Should she run, expect to have that old chestnut "gravitas" rolled out by the lame stream press.

“...And Rubio was born in Miami so you’re wrong twice.”

And Rubio was born in Miami, but his parents were not U.S. citizens at the time of his birth.

Oh yes. And Human Events was one of Reagan’s favorite reads because it was conservative then.

So you’re wrong twice.

"He was born in Miami."

So. His parents were NOT U.S. citizens at the time of his birth. This makes him native born, not natural born.

"The Constitution does NOT define “natural born citizen”

The Constitution does not define almost everything it consist of. It used words and terms that had specific meanings to the Founders when they wrote it. Study what natural born citizen meant to THEM in their time rather than what you think it means to you today. In their time, it included the necessity of having been born to citizen parents.

Original intent is premised on the meaning as they saw it then, not as you see it now. They, the founders, take precedent over your flawed opinion. Sorry.

I think his parents were legal resident aliens at the time.

But even if were citizens those people wouldn’t care, haven’t you heard, their current deal is BOTH your parents need to be natural-born too so no matter where Obama was hatched it doesn’t matter.

I have no problem if they would confine their stuff to Obama but when they attack conservative Republicans like Jindal and Rubio I have to call bullcrap and question just what the heck they are thinking (yeah I know “equally defending the constitution”, save it guys, the democrats are laughing at you turning your fire on our own). Doesn’t matter anyway, no court would ever kick Jindal or Rubio out of office. If either is selected and elected they will be VP, period.

It would be amusing if either became President and was a good one to see if anyone would still be whining.

Uh oh... Are we to believe that Newt Gingrich, conservative politician and learned academic does not agree with Leo Donofrio on the definition of Natural Born Citizen?
