Los Angeles Times to discontinue LA, its Sunday magazine (Dinosaur Media DeathWatchâ„¢)

The Los Angeles Times said its Sunday magazine, facing tough challenges, will cease publication.

LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine will print its final issue June 3, Kathy K. Thomson, president and chief operating officer, said in an email Tuesday to employees.

The magazine came out weekly until 2008, when the paper's editorial department stopped publishing it. The Los Angeles Times Media Group then put out the magazine in a monthly format.

"The entire magazine industry has been faced with a very challenging environment," Thomson wrote. "We are not immune to the challenges."

In 2010, U.S. News & World Report switched to a digital-only format, and Portfolio, a glossy Conde Nast business magazine, folded in 2009. A website, Magazine Death Pool, even popped up to track the closures.

...and, yet, the Times will continue to write in their paper that the economy is great and getting better.

At this point, they are riding it solely for propaganda value. As the net/smartphone/tablet becomes the medium for content delivery moreso each day, they cannot sustain their business model. Thay cannot adapt it either. Like buggy whip makers of old, they serve no purpose.

And the Left will continue to funnel cash to keep them going as long as possible. Yet we see that daily their influence wanes. Eventually the big businesses led by leftists will be forced by their stockholders to abandon ad money down the rathole.

But the Owners/editors et management will NEVER do anything but propogandize until the day the doors are chained shut.

The minute Romney is sworn in, we will get the truth about the economy along with a bunch of other trash and lies.

Everyone here can write/predict the headlines:

Unemployment at Historical Highs
Homeless in Record Numbers
Food Banks Plead for Donations
Children Starving - Republican Don’t Care
War on Women - Government Randomly Shooting Mothers

I loathe the media.

The real question is this for the LAT: how long before your pathetic rag of a newspaper is in receivership? The LAT reign of error must be ended.

who needs a stupid magazine from a stupid newspaper.

All I need is a little free republic on my cell phone.

How did people survive before they had internet on their cell phones??? Those days must have been barbaric.
