What do think the Message was from Avengers Movie?

Posted on 05/16/2012 6:30:54 PM PDT by TNoldman

I saw the Avengers Movie with some family on Mother's Day.

I saw "Obama" as the evil one wanting to end freedom for the general population as freedom is bad. The Evil One wanted the Good Guys (Captain America, Hulk, Thor etc) to spend their time fighting each other.

When Captain America was looking for his "outfit" he went to a museum and found the Stars and Stripes on display. He got it and said - "This is not as popular as it once was!"

When the Good Guys joined to fight evil - they could not be stopped.

At the end when the evil one was exiled to a space platform - he said - "We can never take their freedom when they join together to resist".

I would be shocked if such a message were deliberately implied by Hollywood.

No matter what they spout in public, they know, undeniably, that good must always triumph over evil. And some of the best stories from Hollywood rely on that theme.

Well, if you're crazy, so am I. We saw the movie the opening weekend, and I loved it (the wife, not so much).

However, we both noticed the pro-freedom and pro-American messages as did you, and were pleasantly surprised. Definitely not the usual Hollywood liberal propaganda.

My niece really liked Captain America. She thought his outlook, sense of duty and sacrifice really made him stand out amongst the other heroes. I had to agree. Really good character; well written and acted.

Great movie.

I liked when Captain America said about god Loki “there’s only one true God, and he doesn’t dress like that!”

I thought the message was about a melting pot of diverse individuals that get together against egotistical tyrants.

Liberal propaganda movies don’t make nearly enough money. Bob Downey is an acquaintance of mine and he absolutely loves that Iron Man money. He really is Tony Stark. I was surprised that he went to the Clooney/Obama love in - He’s actually pretty much an almost kinda barely a FReeper type.

I feel a bit argumentative, so I must say that I do not care about any message Hollywood wants to send along with its movies.

If I pay to see a movie it is because I want to be entertained.

I don't want a damn Message either for - or against my political, emotional or religious feelings. Give me what I pay for - entertainment.

The Avengers is a great movie- that from a movie hater, former comic book fanboy (but never Marvel Zombie!). That being said, we didn't see the same movie- can't argue with your "message" points, but the scenes you mention just aren't in the movie.

Did anybody else notice that the bad guy aliens were simply engaging in pointless terrorism, and not planned military action? Militarily, they'd have been much better off establishing a defensible beachhead in, say, North Korea- emerging over New York City was just stupid. Of course, Marvel comics have always been written by New Yorkers, with their provincial "New York Is The Whole World" viewpoint- but still!

Some of the Hollywood conservatives have said, on occasion, that there are more right-leaning people out there than will admit; and Rush has, I believe, said the same.

Not truly surprised to hear that about Downey; I remember his father (who wrote and directed Putney Swope) as an independent thinker, and I would imagine junior to be similar. I am glad to see that he has moved away from dosing himself into oblivion.

And I thought he was the heart of the The Avengers...

It was a good show. Surprisingly, I was a little disappointed in the action-—I thought there was a little too much mindless CGI. But the dialogue was great, and it had little surprises that were fantastic. I did think that the writers missed a couple of golden opportunities. At the end, for example, when someone asks Nick Fury what makes him think that the Avengers will be back, he should have said, “When the world needs them, the Avengers will assemble.” This would have struck a chord with every fan, who knew the Avengers Assemble! call. There were several of those. Nevertheless, solid A-.

Yes, I’d be SHOCKED if that was the message. My guess, and I haven’t seen it, is that it was set up to portray evil 1%’ers, Conservatives/Repubs.... thinly veiled as the bad guys.

You could knock me over with a feather if a big $$$ Hollywierd production was anything but a pro left propaganda spew.
