...just some of Obama’s children
Don’t worry... With the freaks and animals running loose in Detroit it won’t be long before it becomes a gas desert. All the food chains have left already. The punks don’t have anyone else to strongarm and God forbid one of those poor little thugs get shot and killed after all.... They’re such nice, good little boys now aren’t they?
I;m sorry, but this pastor just about asked for this to happen. He was just flashing his money out in the open to these hoodlums and they took it. The pastor was not too wise, imo.
So, the perps didn’t recognize the Pastor, huh? I’ll go out on a limb here and guess that *just maybe* these young men weren’t churchgoers. Call it a hunch.
Maybe I’m out of it, but what type of pastor drives a $72,000 vehicle and wears a $40,000 watch?
Comes back from paying and watches the tank overflow? Sounds like something omitted, like who put the nozzle in the filler and squeezed it, and why did that person leave the vehicle. If pay first, and doggone tooting that in a rough area it would be, you also can’t just cock the nozzle and have it ready to flow when the attendant enables the pump.
Prosperity gospel? That might sell well among the poor. I don’t mean it’s insincere, even though the theology is plain wrong.
The pastor is living rather large...no example of humility.
Doesn't one expect thugs at a Cit-go....Venezuela, Chavez???
I guess he felt he would be called a racist if he had profiled a “dozen young men” of whom “he was suspicious”.
Even with Fox news they don't seem to be able to word the article a la....”black gospel singer Marvin Winans” and “dozen young Amish men”.....I mean, “black”.
Forgive me for the slip, if they had been Amish, he wouldn't be alive to tell the tale.
A successful recording artist? If I recall correctly, Marvin was the one who preached at Whitney Houston’s funeral.
Just a little bag of Skittles...that's all they wanted.
Is Citgo more known as a gathering site for riffraff than Marathon or Mobil? I mean does any street punk care about Venezuela?
As Pastor Winans walked back out to pump gas, three to four of the young men followed him to the pump.
Winans told police he was suspicious, so he watched the young men as his gas tank overflowed.
"He directed his attention back to the gas pump and was turning it off. At that time, a gentleman that was here at the gas station punched him from his blind side, knocking him to the ground. When he fell to the ground, a couple more guys intervened and started punching and kicking him while he was down. They then went into his pockets and took his wallet containing approximately $200 in cash and a few other personal items," said Inspector Nick Kyriacou.
The thieves drove off with Pastor Winans' 2012 burgundy Infiniti QX56. The SUV list price is $72,000. His $40,000 Presidential Rolex was also stolen.
What? Wait just a second. Paster Marvin Winans ... PASTOR MARVIN WINANS drives a $72,000 luxury Infiniti QX56 and wears a $40,000 Rolex? WTH? Sounds like Pastor Marvin Winans has "Perfected" the saintly habit of ripping off his congregation. Sounds like he is a "Perfect" member of bogus health & wealth theology, although he has certainly profited by it. And I bet that he still votes for 0dumb0 to boot and is friends with hate-monger racist Jeremiah Wright. Personally I don't have a lot of sympathy for him. I hope he gets ripped off 10 more times like this.
Well yeah; maybe Houston’s family even donated the flash to him, but it still seems stupid to let the flash flash in the ghetto. Prosperity gospel or not, you’re begging to be robbed by some desperate with a monkey on his back.
Up is down and down is up.
After all, there's reverend Jackson and reverend Sharpton...the church business is a money maker, eh?
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Yup that’s prosperity gospel for ya (in the worse instances). A cold calculating con man, or one who has a sincere lottery theology?
Marvin Winan and his sister probably made most of that kind of money with their hit-gospel songs and concerts of the 80’s and 90’s where they had record success. I haven’t heard anything of Winan involved in anything scrupulous with his teachings or dealings so if he made that money legitimately because people bought his records then I don’t see the problem other than him flashing it as a pastor
The rich young “ruler” who was in bondage to his own earthly wealth. Nobody has positively identified who that was. Some speculate it was the future St. Paul. We’ll have to ask in heaven.
Uh, he’s part of the Winan’s music family, Whitney’s Mom got her start because of him and his brothers if I recall correctly.
He has sold dozens of albums and been a successful singer for decades.
Sounds like one of those televangelists almost with his expensive vehicle and rolex watch.
You mean unscrupulous I think.
Wouldn’t it brown-off poor but honest parishioners? Even if they all knew he was independently wealthy?
Well.....I’m sure if you ask Hugo himself, he would say yes!? Yes/no?
I mean Che’ is passe’....Hugo is huge. (copyrighted)
Thugs know thugs.
The good pastor raised some very talented kids and I'm sure they bless him in many ways. Got no problem with it.
Also does anyone know? Is “Perfecting” Pastor Marvin Winans related to the female (black) recording gospel artist CeCe Winans? Another faux “gospel” black person in favor of 0dumb0’s ripoff! If so maybe they could pool the several hundred thousand or so of jewelry on the pampered bodies and buy 2-3 more luxury cars & Rolex watches.
It’s the local news there and in the Dexter-Davison part of Detroit. It’s a given that everybody was black. Victim and crook. Not too many crackers there.
The Reverend Jesse Jackass kind of pastor...
Her older brother.
A little correction to the good pastor's name.
The kind that routinely carries $200 in cash in a rough neighborhood?
Sounds like really bad situational awareness.
That’s actually a big music family, so I doubt he got his wealth from his congregation or shakedown. I don’t put him in Jim Bakker, Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton category.
Policese. He was no "gentleman," and who in their right mind would pay $40,000 for a watch?
Thanks! In that case, double the lack of sympathy for either one of these sheister con artists.
I never cared for CeCe Winans anyway. I remember at a Christmas concert during the GW Bush era, Michael W. Smith introduced CeCe Winans as the "first lady of gospel music" with a smug pious look on her face. I barfed, then turned off the TV. I can't stand to see her & other black recording artists warbling out their monotonous R&B versions of gospel music.
A watch covered in genuine diamonds mayhaps? Or case and band is almost pure gold?
CeCe Winans is his sister.
Here is an example of her stuff. It struck me as so-so, a little like TV game show or supermarket background music.
But someone obviously loved it, or it wouldn't have made the royalty dough it did. And I'm firmly in the boat of St. Paul who was willing to be "all things to all people so that some might be saved." If it is a link by which God draws a soul near, it is worth more than any earthly cash. Smug expression on the singer's face or no.
I mean Winans of course not Williams.
I would imagine the watch was a gift and the car - the church supplies him a car but certainly they are not thrifty but exorbitant.
His mom and deceased dad used to sing and his sister is a well known singer, CeCe. I didn’t read the article completely, was he riding through or is his church in Detroit?
Luxury SUV and Rolex.
Live by the Bling, die by the Bling.
If that’s a gentleman I’d hate to meet a roughman.
Maybe it’s a new code word for black.
Good chance he didn't pay even close to that much.
Was a Navy Recruiter in Chicago in the '70's, at 114th & South Michigan Ave. Our office was a 'storefront' that opened up to the sidewalk.
Was a "gentleman" who would walk by every day just singing to the wind. Stopped in every day or so and asked if we "needed anything". This dude even took custom orders from people. "Want a new fridge in the box? What brand? Double door or single? How many cu ft? Ice maker? and the big one..... What Color? Said he could deliver in 3 or 4 days, $75 (or whatever) cash on delivery. I asked a beat cop about him one day........said the guy and his friends would go to the railroad yard and steal anything and everything he had orders for from box cars. Said you could depend on whatever you asked for. Got caught and arrested every few months....paid off the judge and walked.
Another story about him follows.
An interesting take on the story of Mary and the alabaster container. It’s more in a Sandi Patti style than the other one. Ce Ce wrote this herself? Not too bad.
I listened to it.... and hated it. Par for course with CeCe Winans voice & style of singing. I think that she & most of the megachurch sheisters & black divas are described in the Bible when they say, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in thy name?” And the Lord will say, Depart from me, I never knew you”.
If you want to come up with a valid theological critique of the lyrics, more power to you. She sees it as symbolizing her life. Others might see it as symbolizing Mary’s love. But I see absolutely nothing here deserving such opprobrium. What someone calls good music is so much a matter of taste. As a practicing musician of 40 years, being a church musician for the last 20 of them, I have to say I have gained a lot of perspective in the secular and sacred music realms.
Anyhow, yes the flashiness is in bad taste and probably not morally helpful either. St. Paul warned of women who looked hot but whose souls were (so to speak) cold towards God.
