White House Objects to Legislation Protecting Military Chaplains from Doing Same-Sex Weddings

The Obama administration “strongly objects” to provisions in a House defense authorization bill that would prohibit the use of military property for same-sex “marriage or marriage-like” ceremonies, and protect military chaplains from negative repercussions for refusing to act against their consciences, as, for example, in being ordered to perform a same-sex marriage ceremony.

In a policy statement released Wednesday, the White House Office of Management and Budget outlined numerous objections to aspects of the fiscal year 2013 National Defense Authorization Bill (H.R. 4310). The bill was reported out of the House Armed Services Committee last week and is set to be debated in the House, beginning Wednesday.

Overall, it recommends that President Obama veto H.R. 4310 if its cumulative effects “impede the ability of the Administration to execute the new defense strategy and to properly direct scarce resources.”

The veto warning is not specifically linked to the two provisions dealing with marriage, but they are listed among parts of the bill which the administration finds objectionable.

The memo said the two provisions “adopt unnecessary and ill-advised policies that would inhibit the ability of same-sex couples to marry or enter a recognized relationship under State law.”

The separation of government intrusion into matters of religious principle are gone under Obamunism.

The ACLU is missing in action as usual.

Celebrate sin, marry members of the same sex.

Pay more taxes to redistribute your wealth to the poor because Jesus said we are our brother’s keeper, so sayeth Lord Obama.

I do not belong to Barack Hussein Obama’s secular-humanist-communist-islamist version of Christian and CANNOT be required to pay indulgences to it. His religious argument to paying more taxes should have negated any requirement to pay taxes at all.

I think they already have.

I entered seminary back in 1997 with the express intent of becoming a chaplain. I had been in the military at that point for 10 years.

By the time I graduated with my doctorate, I no longer wanted to be a chaplain. I could read the handwriting on the wall. I know me: my mouth...my uncompromising nature...and I knew what was coming. I'm still enlisted and it was the best decision I ever made.

don’t complain or say a word at what he does in his second term

Doesn't work that way. I will continue to speak out about how the GOP lost because they pushed for a pro-abort, anti-gun liberal with their dirty tricks, rule changes, and bad-mouthing conservatives.

Isn’t the seperation of Church and State supposed to be a two-way street?

I know, I know, its not in the USC. I’m just saying the left is always playing the church/state card anytime someone whispers a prayer 500 ft of any government facility but the government can now supoosedly make church leaders go against their beliefs.
What is next submitting to Islam?

order..to perform...same sex marriage

A Chaplain cannot be so ordered. It would be an illegal order. Chaplains already are required to be full representatives of their denomination, that is, their endorsing faith group.

It is illegal to obey an illegal order.

I speak as a retired chaplain.

Beyond that, this really is an issue of God's place in the life of any chaplain. Religious liberty is a RIGHT granted by God. No UCMJ, Congress, President, or superior officer can take it away.

Therefore, even if this were to be instituted as law, it would still be illegal in the eyes of God and must be opposed by any chaplain.

Quite frankly, if we have to shut most of the military down in order to avoid sodomizing it completely, this is the honorable thing to do.

We can get it going strong again when we have some measure of sanity restored to government.

They are going to force Catholic and Orthodox Jewish Chaplains to perform ceremonies they are forbidden to perform?

This is, first and foremost, the Military, where you give up a large measure of your rights when you sign up. If something isn't specifically forbidden by military code, it is fair game.

So yes, chaplains could be ordered by a superior office to perform a fake marriage when another willing chaplain isn't available and some activist sodomite demands it.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD TO REALIZE WE HAVE TO OUST THIS MONSTER?

You do realize that Romney is IN FAVOR of this policy of sodomizing our military just like Obama, don't you?

It will be not a wit different with Romney in charge.

Fine - just do me a huge favor - if Obama wins by a smal margin don’t complain or say a word at what he does in his second term

And, you'll agree to do the same if Romney gets in and is a disaster?

That is completely untrue. I was on the Anybody but Romney bandwagon. I would have been happy with Perry, Cain, Newt or Santorum.

I refuse to support someone, though, whose record is to the left of Bill Clinton and who can't be trusted on a single issue.

Not so. A true REFORMER, not someone with Romney’s lousy history, would have my vote without a second thought.
this election is possibly the greatest lost opportunity since Goldwater?

speechless!

That's easy: For Romney (which a handful of Freepers are blinded by their HATE for Mittens and Mormons) to drop out.

Of course, I'm still waiting for any of these naive, uninformed and delusional souls to provide us with anything that is even, close, to being as bad as what the FASCIST, Dear Leader has done....or worse, will do, if re-elected.

I have "the" solution:

Someone has to interview a Mooselimb Chaplain (video taped) and get their reaction or opinion on record and release it publicly.

I can guarantee this issue would go away overnight after all, it is a "fact" that the NEUTERED Military (especially the WUSS, REMF Joint Chiefs) will do anything to keep from "offending" Mooselimbs...even if that means that our brave Warriors suffer as a result, so this would a a no brainer for the 90 Day Wonders at the Pentagon...especially, when they got a call from the Oval Office and were told to stand down by the Islamic Jihadist Appeaser in Chief, himself.
