Good and bad.
They’re identifying one particular sin group. But then, what about gossips, liars, thieves, people with critical attitudes? Those are sins too, and just as damaging.
Just read the list. Also no premarital sex, strict alcohol usage etc.
Ah shut up.
Not QUITE the same. When was the last time you marches and parades and demonstrations in support of gossips, liars, thieves, people with critical attitudes? It isn’t that people sin, it’s that certain groups want their sins endorsed by everybody else.
Office gossip is as bad as homosexuality?
Really?
Which would you rather have your son announce at the family Thanksgiving dinner, that he gossiped yesterday or had butt-sex with the neighbor boy?
Actually, God puts sexual sin in a category all by itself:
1 Corinthians 6:18, "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body."
Great, very common but silly pervert talking points. But unpersuasive among healthy, intelligent and informed adults.
Gossips, liars, thieves, the functionally insane are not presently protected classes.
Only a moron would make that argument.
Well, no. Some, like murder, sodomy, oppressing the widow and orphan, and depriving the workman of his just wages, "cry out to Heaven for vengeance," and those you mention don't. (Not that they're not bad.)
The difference is there is no massive cultural push to make theft (for example) acceptable.
I would assume that thieves and liars are dealt with appropriately already. Gossips and critical attitudes are probably also dealt with through progressive discipline.
They did not go after one sin. The media just focuses on one.
I agree but this is a lifestyle.
“But then, what about gossips, liars, thieves, people with critical attitudes? Those are sins too, and just as damaging.”
When did God level their cities?
I think many such codes of conduct include other things besides sexual issues; “scandalous behavior” acts as a good catch-all in such matters.
Go away...
Aside from forbidding an active role in a gay relationship, the lifestyle pledge also bans pre-marital sex, adultery and drug use and abuse. Additionally, employees are asked to be active members of a church and to live their lives as committed, Bible-believing followers of Jesus Christ.
A private employer who might suffer considerable damage from scandals involving these behaviours has the right to have employees who will reflect their standards of behaviour to avoid damage to their reputation.
God Almighty did not destroy two cities in the old testament for gossip or lying or stealing but for homosexuality. The New Testament has many words damning this particular sin of homosexuality. I think many other Christian schools should come up with an anti-Homosexuality pledge. Don’t use the word “gay” because these folks are anything but “gay”.
It is a sin to be critical? Being critical is a bad as fagottry? Ok.
