This week the Club for Growth released a study of votes cast in 2011 by the 87 Republicans elected to the House in November 2010. The Club found that “In many cases, the rhetoric of the so-called “Tea Party” freshmen simply didn’t match their records.” Particularly disconcerting is the fact that so many GOP newcomers cast votes against spending cuts.
The study comes on the heels of three telling votes taken last week in the House that should have been slam-dunks for members who possess the slightest regard for limited government and free markets. Alas, only 26 of the 87 members of the “Tea Party class” voted to defund both the Economic Development Administration and the president’s new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia program (see my previous discussion of these votes here) and against reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank (see my colleague Sallie James’s excoriation of that vote here).

Recently I was scolded as ‘being naive’ (the exact words including stupid) about the newly elected tea party freshmen class on FR.
It seemed some on FR thought it ‘not up to snuff’ to hold elected officials to their oaths. We all should give them the same allowance as those old party old timers.

Absolutely right about Charlie Bass. As soon as he won the primary last time, I knew the seat was going to a liberal. I didn’t expect any anti-government votes from him. It’s silly to put him on any TEA Party list.
For a while I was frequently invited to his telephone “town hall” meetings. He puts a LOT of effort into pandering to people with their hands out. He disgusts me.
I agree. None of this makes me happy. Not at all. I am not going to worry too much because most of what is happening is just status quo. We aren’t inacting terrible new laws or ‘comprehensive reforms’ bound to fail and cost lots of money along the way. I think we knew that 2010 was about stopping the bleeding. If Obama chose to go the route that Clinton did and moderate and start passing some Republican ideas to help get re-elected, that would be one things. They chose to do the opposite during this congress. Block everything. Negotiate nothing. Pursue no measures to address our problems. They aren’t even passing a budget.
At times, the weakness of the House GOP makes me sick to my stomach. At other times, I realize there aren’t many fights worth having in this environment because there is no opportunity to make major progress with the legislation.
The poor idiots.
They don’t realize that the populus is not asleep, just watching their moves and cues.
They’ll find we aren’t the dumbasses they think we all are.

If we support the tea party, then we should see a MEASUREMENT of what that support means. The measurement is simple to do... So let's not wait for CATO... We should set up our own scoreboard NOW. As tea party leaders you and I should demand this from OUR national organization.
And if this doesn't happen and these people we supported are not doing the organization's bidding, then maybe we should consider this some kind if cover-up of the tea party's failure?

They should be responsive only to their constituents. Was it not that premise that got them elected?
I worry about the Tea Party. In the state of Maine the Tea Party either promotes gay marriage or Ron Paul. I have dropped the lot of them.
I would love to see Gov Palin speak at the convention, review what a conservative is and what conservatives stand for, and then review why the GOP has shown that it does not want conservatives within the party.
And then announce that she is going to change her party affiliation to the Constitution Party.
