Chest another day in NYC
New York Post ^ | May 20, 2012 | CANDICE M. GIOVE

This activist thinks women have the right to “bare” more than just arms.

“I want people to know . . . it’s legal for a woman to be topless,” Johnston said.

Moira Johnston, 29, drew a lot of attention during a topless protest yesterday in Union Square Park — and that’s exactly what the dancer wants.

My searches only return 2 topless photos and both are of the same woman...and not impressive.

By your reasoning, the second two rapists were fully justified weren’t they?

No. The woman was naked for reasons beyond her control. Hers was not a lack of modesty, but simple physical exigency. However, any woman who wantonly parades about naked -- in violation of every acceptable norm of civilization -- can lay no claim to the protections of civilization, nor can she fairly expect men to subdue instincts she herself refuses to subdue.

Otherwise there would be no law against men going around totally nude.

There ARE laws against men going around totally nude. And for (arguably) the same reasons.

I see. A rapist is expected to determine why a woman is naked before he decides to rape her.

Oooooooooookay...

You are going to get flamed pretty bad unless you start delineating the degrees of the offenses. Going topless is not a crime as serious as rape. But even if it was, the rape would still require punishment. If you murder a jaywalker with your car you do not get a pass.

Perhaps he is trying to prepare us for Sharia?

I get his point. We are not animals but we do have some animal instincts. We all expect each other to keep our inner animal under control. Proper dress codes are part of it.

Put another way...I wouldn’t walk around a bad part of town with hundred dollar bills poking out of the top of my back pocket. And pretty girls should be careful what kind of men see their goodies.

In principle, either activity should be safe.

In practice, don’t tease the animals...

A rapist is expected to determine why a woman is naked before he decides to rape her.

I think you have cause and effect confused. The man isn't a rapist until he rapes her. And if he -- like most men -- would inquire into why a woman was roaming the street naked, I think one could reasonably expect that a civilized human being would respond to a woman in need not by raping her but by offering her safety. On the other hand, a woman who was strutting around in public in her union suit has no moral high ground from which to accuse men of presumption, or to condemn them for wanton acts.

A woman parading around in public should not necessarily be a candidate for rape, nor should such a rape be considered innocuous. But her nudity certainly creates an extenuating circumstance, and could even preclude a conviction. On the other hand, it is clearly a violation of decency for her to appear naked.

And to equate common modesty with sharia is not only an ad absurdum argument, it is a childish oversimplification.

Oversimplification?

Perhaps.

But you and Sharia seem agree that rape is the woman’s fault.

I said that a woman who was parading around town wantonly naked did not deserve civilization's protection. That's hardly the same as saying she deserves to be raped or that her rape is her fault. It certainly is a far cry from endorsing sharia.

But if helps you to reduce the argument to that logical absurdity, feel free.

Dude!

Most of us agree with you up to 99%.

Its that last 1% you are losing us. Almost all women deserve our protection. Some may not deserve our empathy though.

I would do my best to protect a naked whore in a den of disgusting booger eating goat humping perverts. I would not risk my life too awfully much on her behalf. I would risk quite a bit more to save my sister from such a fate(or all of my life) I would risk a lot to save my neighbors pretty young teenage daughter from such a fate. But I would make an effort for almost any woman in that instance.

afterwards whether I was successful or not I would want justice and i would want those booger eating goat humping animals put to death.

There is a difference between what I am saying and what you are saying.

This is my opinion.

Mousey as hell.

And her 'charms' are quite deflated for her young age.

Of course, I wouldn't be Laz if I didn't say I'd hit it.
