Gov George Wallace ring a bell? John Birchers ring a bell? Some whites would be pissed if a minority moved into their neighborhood. Unfortunately, in the past conservatives had to deal with their fringes too. Good news is most conservatives have become Tea Party and frame their behavior within the Constitution/Bill of Rights. When I was young I started off as a liberal and Democrat, but I have left them because their social ideas and economic ideas do not work, and more important they have become more intolerant while the Conservatives have become more tolerant while the liberals became facist with PC.
