Will U.S. Sovereignty Be LOST At Sea? Obama Signs U.N. Treaty That Redistributes Drilling Revenues
Forbes ^ | may 20, 2012 | Forbes OpEd

Posted on 05/20/2012 10:18:50 AM PDT by Innovative

A proposed Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), which has been signed by President Obama but not yet ratified by Congress, will subordinate U.S. naval and drilling operations beyond 200 miles of our coast to a newly established U.N. bureaucracy. If approved, it will grant a Kingston, Jamaica-based International Seabed Authority (ISA) the power to regulate deep-sea oil exploration, seabed mining, and fishing rights.

As part of the deal, as much as 7% of U.S. government revenue that is collected from oil and gas companies operating off our coast will be forked over to ISA for redistribution to poorer, landlocked countries. This apparently is in penance for America's audacity in perpetuating prosperity yielded by our Industrial Revolution.

Like the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol debacle that preceded it, this most recent LOST cause embodies the progressive ideal of subordinating the sovereignty of nation states to authoritarian dictates of a world body. The U.S. would have one vote out of 160 regarding where the money would go, and be obligated to hand over offshore drilling technology to any nation that wants it... for free.

Obama and Reid’s plan to drive this POS down America’s throats after the election in the next “lame duck” session!

Obama Seeks Sovereignty Surrender Via LOST Treaty

http://news.investors.com/article/610769/201205081849/obama-pushes-law-of-the-sea-treaty.htm

“Sovereignty: Even if he’s not re-elected, the president hopes to leave behind a treaty giving a U.N. body veto power over the use of our territorial waters and to which we’d be required to give half of our offshore oil revenue.

The Law Of The Sea Treaty (LOST) has been lurking in the shadows for decades. Like the Kyoto Protocol that pretended to be an effort to save the earth from the poisoned fruit of the Industrial Revolution, LOST pretends to be an effort to protect the world’s oceans from environmental damage and remove it as a cause of potential conflicts between nations.

Like its Kyoto cousin, LOST is an attempt at the global redistribution of power and wealth, the embodiment of the progressive dream of the end of the nation state as we know it and the end of political freedom by giving veto over all of mankind’s activities to a global body — in this case something called the International Seabed Authority, located in Kingston, Jamaica.”

I might not question a “real” fireman... but if some guy on a bicycle wearing a black suit and tie starts to run in with a can of gasoline, I might.

Stay out of the POTUS race if you want; but work hard for other candidates.

Living in Texas, I have the luxury of voting third-party (right now the Ailurophile Party has some appeal, as does the Universal Janitors Party) and not having to worry about Obozo ever taking this great State -- hey, that's a large part of why Texas is great! -- but you can bet I'll be trying to help the down-ticket races. As time goes by, we'll need either more re-migration homewards of the Mexican hosts, or a lot of voter education.

I recently was redistricted out of Sheila Jackson Lee's district into that of Rep. Ted Poe, who is one of the best congresscritters in the Lone Star delegation, and my state rep (a Tejana liberal Dim) also went away, replaced by an energetic young Republican. To say I was deliriously happy when I finally read my new voter-registration card is to understate the obvious!

Well, it is kind of hard when RINOs take more consultation advice from him than Bill Clinton would...

Bill Clinton insisted he had “no relationship” with Obama and had been consulted more frequently by his presidential successor, George W. Bush.

According to our Constitution a treaty must first be approved by the senate before a President can sign it.

Just think what Obama will do in his second term...

Even if he gets one -- not much. Not after we get through with his Senate golfing buddies.

That's why he's pushing LOST forward now, to beat us to the punch. Well, guess what, folks -- get busy!

God Bless Ronald Reagan, he fired them all.

“.......And in addition to establishing and having to deal with still another U.N. agency,.....”

That’s part of the goal right there to establish another of the many tenticles of the large as the World monster known as the U.N. in creating World governance.

The U.N. has to be stopped even if it takes drastic actions.

The Boy Emperor can sign all of the treaties he wants.
Congress has to ratify them, before they become binding.

“Obama acan sign any thing he wishes but it’s worthless without the Senate’s consent.”

Thanks to an ignorant public (due to decades of union infested public schools), a willing accomplice in the MSM, presidents since Woodrow Wilson have been violating the constitution and usurping much of the Senate’s power via Executive Orders.

The dark lord has no problem running this country like a banana republic dictatorship with one Executive order after another. The vast majority of these EOs have noting to due with the Executive branch are all most exclusively the privy of the Congress. But who cares? The man can read a mean teleprompter.

That was during a Congressional majority.

This has to pass the Senate and the split is 51/47.

Not going to ever come close to attaining 2/3rds of Senators voting in the affirmative.

This is what you get with Obama -- can we afford four more years?!

It will require the help of some RINO's but I fear he will have plenty of them to help. People need longer memories, this is a New World Order objective of long standing. I am pretty sure GW signed this cr@p as well, and even our beloved Sarah was for it, at least in the past.

“The U.S. Navy maintains that we need LOST to guarantee free transit in dangerous waters, such as in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has threatened to block, and in the South China Sea which is dominated by China. Yet freedom of navigation has been recognized under international law for centuries. It was policed by the British Navy over 400 years, and by ours since 1775. Since the U.N. has no navy, it will still be up to us to continue this role.”

Can some Navy person explain why the U.S. Navy supports this BS. Why the hell does the US Navy want some foreign body determining where we can and cannot sail?
