Romney's Faith, Silent but Deep
New York Times ^ | May 19, 2012 | Jodi Kantor

Posted on 05/20/2012 3:18:09 PM PDT by greyfoxx39

When Mitt Romney embarked on his first political race in 1994, he also slipped into a humble new role in the Mormon congregation he once led.

-SNIP-

Mr. Romney’s penchant for rules mirrors that of his church, where he once excommunicated adulterers and sometimes discouraged mothers from working outside the home.

-SNIP-

Clayton M. Christensen, a business professor at Harvard and a friend from church, said the question that drove the Sunday school classes — how to apply Mormon gospel in the wider world — also drives Mr. Romney’s life.

When Mr. Romney’s former Sunday school students listen to him campaign, they sometimes hear echoes of messages he delivered to them years before: beliefs that stem at least in part from his faith, in a way that casual observers may miss. He is not proselytizing but translating, they say — taking powerful ideas and lessons from the church and applying them in another realm.

-SNIP-

In Mormonism, salvation depends in part on constantly making oneself purer and therefore more godlike.

-SNIP-

But many also see a gap between his religious ideals — and his political tactics. The chasm has been hard to reconcile, even though people close to him say he is serious about trying to do so.

The Mormon religion is a river that is a mile wide and 1/4 inch deep.

Paul said the following.

1Co 5:9 ¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Please Mitt, it's time to not be silent about what is most important.

...and that would be what?

I received a call last week from the NRC and discussed my displeasure with them and Romney, who doesn’t have the nomination. I let them send the info with a minimum pledge but made it clear I may not honor it, I have contributed to them in the past. This weekend I was a delegate to our State Republican concention and all the speakers, mostly our State and Federal elected officials, touted Romney and talked about how Conservative he is. This is indeed going to be very difficult whatever path I take but it will probably be the ABO, IF he gets the nomination. Our convention was very scripted and executive committee candidates were already picked and we just had a yea or nay vote. Only one resolution was passed from the floor and that became the highlight of the convention. It added a debt ceiling resolution to the platform and passed with only 3 nay votes and I got the impression that was to the dismay of the powers that be. It was offered by a new Republican and Tea Party activist from my county, she, her husband and myself were alternates that got seated as delegates. We have worked together for 3 years now and I rode down with them. She was instrumental in the petition drive to get Voter ID on the Mississippi ballot.

The NY Times were able to find Romney's Sunday School students, but can't find even one of Obama's "constitutional law" students? Or a Columbia classmate. Or something he's written as Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Or the funder of his education. Or whether Obama received grants as a foreign student. Or his transcripts. Or much of anything about Obama.

Poison. The NY Times is poison.

I would like to know how and what departments of government he would get rid of to reduce size of government and spending but he says he can’t divulge that because the list wouldn’t be good enough for Conservatives.

I would like to know what the 2nd Amendement means to him, how he inturrupts it.

This is just an example of two things. What we get is someone goes into a private meeting with him, such as Ted Nugent on the 2nd Amendment, and comes out and can’t divulge what was said but says “trust me he’s okay on this I like it, we can trust him”. That’s crap, he needs to be open and say these good things to ME and all the Conservatives. Now I don’t trust Ted Nugent either.

Poison. The NY Times is poison.

Perhaps you aren't aware of the fact that what is published in the NYT is picked up by many of the state-run media outlets. That's why I found Axelrod's claim that "mormonism is off the table for the Obama campaign" hilarious...

We are in for a religious war in the press with Obama on one side and the multi-billion-dollar mormon church on the other.

For an example of the mormon propaganda being spread, click here Mormons and Demons

This is a 4400-word apologetic screed with a misleading title that is nothing but a Romney boosting essay, with hits on Huckabee, Protestants and Catholics and praise for Mitt..."All of this religiosity is going to be used against him in the coming months by people who would like to knock religion down a peg—especially his own form of wonderbread, patriarchal, particularly American religion. The politically expedient course would have been for Romney to practice his Mormonism sparingly. Yet he wouldn’t have made it this far without it, and he has in the past been honest enough to admit this."

Put the American Spectator in the RINO column for this "mess of pottage".

In his Bush Library speech four years ago, Romney acknowledged that his faith could “sink my candidacy,” and if that were to happen, well, “so be it.” But he believed on the whole “Americans do not respect believers of convenience. Americans tire of those who would jettison their beliefs, even to gain the world.”
__________________________________________________

Romney is a bit confused here...

This has nothing to do with Mormonism...

The LORD Jesus Christ was speaking about Christianity, the religion that Romney rejects...the Bible that Romney does not believe...

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose his own soul? Matthew 16:26, Mark 8:35-37, Luke 9:25

Christianity is used as a convenience by Romney who misquotes the words of the LORD Jesus Christ in an attempt to get elected...

This bit from that same American Spectator June 2012 article was interesting too...

“At a Boston St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in 2005, he explained his opposition to gay marriage in religious terms. As a Mormon, he said, “I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman and a woman and a woman.”

Where was George Stephenopolous when Romney misspoke and needed correcting ???

The greatest danger that Mormonism presents is that its "Jesus" is not the Jesus of the Bible and cannot save anyone........for that many well intentioned Mormons are under a great deception and cruel hoax.

Romney as President will encourage people to inquire of the counterfeit Christ Mormonism presents, just by obtaining the seat of President of this nation and LDS know this well.

This nations people are primed to be followers when the Pipers Pipe....... (which is happening now and which LDS are already promoting and carrying out their propaganda to the public...they will go to all expense to see their agenda forwarded as they see this as there hour and time).

Mormonism is a path of ultimate destruction and known as that by any who know what God says about who He is and Who His Son is and what mans relationship is to Him. Their rituals and practices fly in the face of who Jesus Christ is, though they have been successfull in pulling off this fraud to an uninformed general public.

Mormons 'invented' a whole pre-history for America, for which there isn't a shred of evidence. .......They've never repudiated this bogus history, ...including Romney...and they have an political agenda for this country in which they have full intentions of carrying out and are positioned to do so.

LDS is a 'dangerous cult' and a cruel hoax... regardless of the front they project to outsiders....most cults do just that....... Eve was also deceived by appearances and the words spoken....."Has not God said you will be like God" which is what Mormonism's key doctrine is about.

.....Any religion that claims people can become "God" is a cult.. Further Mormonism has many 'occult' practices within it's churches as well as symbols.

So where does this leave the voter? The lesser of two EVILS choice is now between:

..... a 'GOP Socialist and LDS cultist' vs. the 'Democrat Socialist and Liberation Theology cultist'.

Neither of which have our nation or it's peoples interests in mind. Rather each has another course of destruction to this nation and how people will conduct themselves...neither of which is Freedom.

My vote will be against them both.

“fact checking error” ALERT!!!

Book of Mormon change: Instead of being the "principal ancestors" of American Indians, Lamanites are now......?among the ancestors of the American Indians.?
[The original phrase and the changes are noted in Red and bold for emphasis]

In the Introduction to the Book of Mormon the second paragraph reads:

?The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The record gives an account of the two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., and afterward separated into two nations, known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. The other came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel. This group is known as the Jaredites.
After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians.?

This was included in the first printing runs of the Doubleday Edition.

In the latest printing of the Doubleday Edition of the Book of Mormon, the last sentence was changed to read:

?...After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians.?

The interesting thing is this change is not published anywhere. Additionally, the new Doubleday Edition still lists itself as a first edition. I am no publisher, but my understanding was when you made changes, you listed it as a second, third, etc. edition. The second edition also indicates that it is still first printing, which would be impossible since the change was made. [post further down explains the publishing numbering practices]

Romney’s not going to say anything he doesn’t have to or thinks you need to know. That should be clear to everyone at this point...and when he does answer he’ll be evasive...he’s done so his entire life and groomed to be just that. ..otherwise expect what he says to be lies even he doesn’t believe. How any can expect any degree of truth from Romney is beyond mindboggling....you aren’t going to get it..and that’s the deal.

Let’s put an end to Romney’s wonderful-sounding lies, and work to DUMP ROMNEY. Romney has been telling lies that con us into believing that “Change” is coming.

There will be little change. Romney will be Obamalite. For example, Romney says that he will “get rid of” Obama”care” by sending it in 50 pieces to our already bankrupt 50 States. That will just increase the financial, and regulation impact of Obama”care.”

My reasoning for the DUMP ROMNEY Campaign is as follows:

DUMP ROMNEY and replace him with a stellar Dark Horse Republican Presidential Nominee.

IF Romney is probably going to lose to Obama, THEN it is incumbent upon the RNC to intervene and declare an OPEN Convention, regardless of the Primary delegates that Romney has.

Continued accumulation of Primary delegates in the remaining State Primaries is the key to improving Paul’s chances of forcing the GOP-E to hold an OPEN Convention in Tampa.

Paul will then have completed his main task in this Primary: giving the delegates the freedom to DUMP ROMNEY!

My goal is to defeat the insanity of Keyensian Economics in “both” of our very sorry political parties THIS YEAR!

This can be accomplished by the Delegates choosing a stellar Dark Horse Nominee, such as R-Rep. Allen West of Florida, to slaughter Obama in a November Landslide.

It is not enough to beat Obama, he must be smashed in a huge landslide to repudiate his Marxist ideas for America!

Romney is not Warrior enough to do so.

The key is to FORCE the GOP-E to allow for an OPEN Convention in Tampa. Without an OPEN Convention the SOS of INSANE Federal Over-Spending will keep America on the same crowded track with Greece, and Kalifornia.

There are over 15, 000, 000, 000, 000 reasons why spending more money this year than was taken in during the previous year is an INSANE path to financial destruction.

Neither Obama or Romney have presented a plan to spend our Federal dollars in a non-insane manner.

For example, the GOP Elite have stood in line to endorse Romney, to endorse “The Ryan Budget,” and to compromise-away every opportunity to reduce Federal Spending.

I included the Ryan Budget, because Rep. Paul Ryan himself says that his “Budget” will balance in 30 YEARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I added those exclamation points, because both you and I know that Ryan’s budget will NEVER balance, and thus will never be a fact. The exclamation points are just for volume emphasis.

______________________

The main point of my post is as follows: In order to DUMP ROMNEY there must be an OPEN, or “Bartered” Convention.

Ron Paul, Santorum and Newt are our best hopes to achieve an OPEN Convention because they have the most Delegates to force the Romney Delegates to approve of an OPEN Convention.

Since RP is the only active Candidate left standing, he has the best chance of forcing the RNC to have an OPEN Convention in Tampa.

With an OPEN Convention, NONE of the Primary Candidates stand a chance of becoming the Nominee, except Romney.

That possibility must be countered by a stellar Dark Horse, that is someone that has not run in this years Primary Campaign.

Otherwise Romney will follow the same stupid path as McCain and lose to Obama “much to the surprise of the GOP-E.”

Ron Paul, Santorum and Newt were rejected by Primary voters, and would be re-soundly rejected by the voters in the National Election. Thus, their main value is to force an OPEN Convention.

The Convention Delegates then would have a chance to choose a Nominee who could easily defeat Obama.

I had earlier supported R-Sc Sen. Jim DeMint, but he will not leave the Senate. Now I support R-Fla. Rep. Allen West. Rep. Allen West is a retired US Army Colonel, straight-talking Conservative, AND is the only non-welcome member of the Congressional Black Caucus, (the Libs hate him).

There are many other Republican non-RINO Dark Horses who would make excellent Dark Horse Nominees.

The DUMP ROMNEY Campaign requires an OPEN or “Bartered” Convention in Tampa.

Make your voice and vote count towards an OPEN Convention in Tampa, Florida!

BTW, Nominee Allen West WOULD be Florida’s favorite son in November - - - .

There are a few things that Mitt would do better than obama, almost all are about finances.

What I believe we are heading for, or vice versa, has little to do with the money, but more along the lines of how we have broken the covenant the Founding Fathers made.

Mitt hasn't said much to make me believe he will change our course and get us back on the road we started on.

If we don't do that, none of his or our solutions will change a thing.
