Romney's Faith, Silent but Deep
New York Times ^ | May 19, 2012 | Jodi Kantor

Posted on 05/20/2012 3:18:09 PM PDT by greyfoxx39

When Mitt Romney embarked on his first political race in 1994, he also slipped into a humble new role in the Mormon congregation he once led.

-SNIP-

Mr. Romney’s penchant for rules mirrors that of his church, where he once excommunicated adulterers and sometimes discouraged mothers from working outside the home.

-SNIP-

Clayton M. Christensen, a business professor at Harvard and a friend from church, said the question that drove the Sunday school classes — how to apply Mormon gospel in the wider world — also drives Mr. Romney’s life.

When Mr. Romney’s former Sunday school students listen to him campaign, they sometimes hear echoes of messages he delivered to them years before: beliefs that stem at least in part from his faith, in a way that casual observers may miss. He is not proselytizing but translating, they say — taking powerful ideas and lessons from the church and applying them in another realm.

-SNIP-

In Mormonism, salvation depends in part on constantly making oneself purer and therefore more godlike.

-SNIP-

But many also see a gap between his religious ideals — and his political tactics. The chasm has been hard to reconcile, even though people close to him say he is serious about trying to do so.

we have broken the covenant the Founding Fathers made.

If you mean when our Founding Fathers dedicted this nation as one nation under God?....well Newt was also speaking of this thru his campaign...But without using 'Covenant"...to once again Honor God thru His Son Jesus Christ rather than turn our backs on him as we've been doing as a nation.

However a word of caution to talk of Covenant-America... as there is a "Movement" gaining some traction which claims the Covenants with Israel were passed on to America thru our founding fathers... making America the New Promised land....and this is bordering closely to Replacement Theology which is a hoax.....and directly in line with the 'Poitical Agenda of the Mormon Church" that they be central to the formation of this unity of faiths and restoration of our country..which is ultimately a smoke screen.

The Covenant we make is with Christ Jesus....and adherance to Him. Not to our nation...We are a Christian Nation Because we are Christians notbecause we join all religious faiths....which is the purpose of this movement under the disguise and deception of this "Covenant double speak" going around now.

The Enemy of Christianity uses that which is close to our heart and we need to be on guard for this nation at this time of it's weakness...wolfs are out there ready to take it down a path never intended and likely under the disguise of a religious and seemingly patriotic nature as both would unite the country......under what false premise needs to be looked at very carefully. This Movement is a fraud.....so be alert please.

BTW:

Glen Beck is also promoting it, once again using the Tea Parties to help bait the people. Very similar to his march on Washington where he deceptively interJected Mormon teachings and visuals throughout that.....this is now the next step of deception to prime the public...and they're using Patriotism and unity of faiths step by step to bait the people.

Here are some of Beck's disturbing quotes with Ballard:

Ballard states.... He talked about it all the time, that every religious sect in this nation needs to be upheld, needs to be given their due freedom, and that was ‑‑ that was key to him and to his understanding of the fruit of this covenant, that all religions....

GLENN: There was everyone arm in arm. All faiths walking arm in arm intentionally. They’re all walking together in ‑‑ to worship God. All of them.........You plus a covenant equals security. Prosperity. Peace. That’s the way it is. It’s just that simple.

You can read the transcript of this Inerview with Ballard on Becks site.....it's very disturbing to me.

Also GBTV will be instrumental with the Mormon Agenda as we see it is now....they just don't tell you.

There are a few things that Mitt would do better than obama, almost all are about finances.

And every reduction IS going to p.o. a LOT of 'voters' who are DEPENDING on our wallets to allow them to continue the livestyle they've adapted top.

It will be VERY ugly!

True.

The next time you hear Amazing Grace played on the bagpipes; you'll think of this.

Oh; the thing will LOOK human and SOUND human enough to pass in society; but at NIGHT...

MORMONism is the result of a pod of psuedo-christianity laid near an unsuspecting person, thereby stealing their soul.

MORMONs may LOOK Christian, and most of the time they SOUND Christian; but inSIDE...

Fear is the main reason for staying in mormonism, ignorance by members of church history is second, a feeling of superiority for belonging to the "one true church" is third.

The fear is instilled in children at a very young age...fear of losing one's "eternal family", as they grow older the brainwashing continues with fear of being kept out of the "place where God and Jesus reside" and the very real fear of shunning by their mormon friends and family.

Fear, ignorance and the feeling of being "speshul" along with in many cases, being born into or converting into the sect in an area that is heavily mormon like Utah and several other enclaves.

Thanks.

It is time to oppose the same sorry mistakes that McCain and the RINO Party made in 2008.

It is also time for us as Conservatives to recognize and avoid making the same sorry mistakes that WE made in 2008.

One mistake that we made in 2008 was to revert back to the old days when we were known as “The Silent Majority.” We grumbled, held our noses, and Caved-In as all good RINO sheep are expected to do.

Our Silent Caving-In in 2008 created the problem that MANY Conservatives refused to vote for McCain.

IF we behave in 2012 as RINO Sheep and Cave-In to whoever the RINOs endorse, nominate and support, then we Conservatives are no better than our RINO U.S. Representatives and Senators who always Cave-In.

This election is for ALL of the marbles! We cannot afford to play the old RINO game that caused the defeat of McCain to Marxist Obama in 2008.

Obama is much stronger politically now than he was against McCain in 2008, but the RINO Party refuses to consider that reality.

It is time to DUMP ROMNEY who is obviously to weak of a candidate to beat Obama.

The Delegates need to choose in an OPEN Convention a strong NON-RINO Nominee who can soundly defeat Obama, and coat-tail U.S. Senators and Representatives into Congress.

Romney is not that man: DUMP ROMNEY!

We must learn from the mistakes made by the McCain Campaign and rub the collective noses of the RINOs in it!

Romney is counting on the old Classical Conservative Cave-In.

I can hear Romney now: “You have no choice but to vote for me. I’ll be even more severely Conservative than I was when I rammed through Romney”care.” Trust me, I know how The Economy works. Etc, etc., etc.”

The battle to win back a CONSERVATIVE White House is starting to break wide open!

Much Mormon-speak...Too bad nobody bothers to asked him what he means...he just throws out his weird Mormon double talking points and gets away with it..

That is what 'counterfeit' Christianity is......sounds like the real thing, looks like the real thing, acts like the real thing..but it is a hoax.

Unfortunately the General Public is not aware of the 'language of Mormonism' any more than they are Islam.....though both might use the same Christian verbiage it's meaning is not as the Christian Community understands... again it's a counterfeit.......

The idea is to get everyone using 'the same language' thus the baiting of uninformed listeners, who think they are talking the same language, the dialog then can ensue and remain open.

Romney is a picture of what deception looks like....when he speaks it will always be 'with effort' of maintaining the front he projects...and why he stutters and misdirects away from anything which would reveal him as he is.

Even the press and journalists, those who've worked with Romney, recognize the "distancing" he does and inability to connect with the people outside his church......because He simply cannot, nor desires to.

Secrecy within Mormonism and a false projection is paramount to keep the dark side of Mormonism hidden...and Romney's had a lifetime to perfect that which he allows to be seen.

You're right...anytime Romney uses the word.."Restoring, Restoration of our country"....it's not with the meaning we as Americans see it...it is with the idea of positioning this country under LDS influence and their leaderships political agenda for this nation......

Which is why I brought up this "Covenant" talk being used now. ...It's a word we'll hear more and more of.. but it's meaning is being totally misconstrued to tie Mormonism into the religious fabric of this country with a cover of Patriotism . ......when it's really a form of Replacement Theology....with a Patriotic/Mormonism twist.

It can be frustrating seeing people like Beck and Romney using that which is dear to our country to promote their cult across this nation and it's leaderships political agenda. I honestly don't see Americans waking up to this deception....anymore than those who wouldn't wakeup to Obama.

This nation has become sheep willingly being prepared for the slaughter....the Piped Piper is playing his tune and the people are following...and the ABO crowd are falling in line.

It might occur to you that some are going to vote for Romney instead of allowing little barry abstard commie to have the last four years he needs to destroy America. That doesn’t make them Mitt supporters, but it does indicate they are more focused on trying to buy time to save the Republic, rather than kicking LDS inc or the GOP in the groin for spite.

I agree though I think too many conservatives are confused and overly frightened, who will vote Romney just the same as those who knew better of Obama voted for him...and likewise McCain voters, as myself, who again held my nose.

...But this time I will be voting against both...as neither Romney nor Obama have the peoples interests in mind...in fact we are furtherest from their minds except for the vote we give and our pocketbooks.

May God give us the heart of Gideon and those who long before us knew and desired to fight the good fight....the Red Sea needs to be opened....

Don't lecture me Marvin.

Your NEW "go along to get along" attitude is a huge change in your years of posting truth against the cultic aspect of mormonism...did your mormon friend succeed in converting you?

If you are so happy with Romney, why don't you post favorable articles about him and refrain from clicking on the articles I post?

This goes for any other former Flying Inmen. It's your right to support Mitt if you like, and my right to keep on fighting heresy.

THE MAZE OF MORMONISM....these are very good links Greyfox...as they explain how Mormon practices and teachings work to stop the critical thinking and reasoning people would otherwise use.

This is similar to the New Age Spirituality, The Emergent Church, Scientology, and Islamic forms of indoctrination.

These Cultish practices and Indoctrinations are used by it's leadership, and desired for a membership which is devoid of critical thinking with a strong focus on feelings from fear, to false guilt and creates an emotional slide from one to the other...which of course is the enemy of mens souls objective to keep them in bondage and the stronghold they are in....without any true peace from God...rather instills a false peace on the few occassions they might find it.

Thank you for posting those links....they certainly reveal what ‘happens’ to a Mormon thru those indoctrinations...and is typical of cults and occult practices.

Our Founding Fathers were religious men of honor and integrity who understood how things are.

I was lead to believe this was not the case by the Progressive bowel movement's successful takeover of our school system.

This is 180 out and a couple of light years away from the truth.

This is the deal we made:

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”
--George Washington, First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789

As long as we upheld our end of the deal, we enjoyed God's grace and protection. Look around. Pretty obvious we have broken that deal and now, lucky us, are getting the first wake up calls of the consequences heading directly for US.

I maintain that is what the progressives had in mind. They saw/knew the truth. Once they got us to cross that line, the protection was lifted and we could be taken down, but not before.

And cross the line we did! 1973 was certainly a milestone, probably the final straw.

And if and until we get back to where we once belonged, Nothing, no symptom based solution is going to "fix" our problems. Things just keep on ramping up.

And lucky us, we're the ones the consequences land on...but we're also the ones who can truly fix it.

Or maybe we'll be around to hit the America Restart button once the dust settles.
