Mandeville, LA Its an Olympic athlete, the study of stopping power, a big legal win out of California, and Obamas record on guns, this week on Tom Gresham's Gun Talk® Radio, the original nationally-syndicated radio talk show about guns and the shooting sports.
USA Shooting team member Kim Rhode is no stranger to the Olympic Games. She heads to London this summer with four Olympic Medals, not to mention dozens of National and World Championships, under her belt. Rhode drops by to talk skeet and more! http://www.usashooting.org/12-the-team/usashootingteam/nationalteam/nationalshotgunteam/kimrhode
One of the great debates when talking handguns has always been stopping power. Greg Ellifritz, of Active Response Training, decided to get test the theories out, and extensively tested multiple calibers. Read more on what Ellifritz found at http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/7866.
Its a huge gun rights win in Calexico, CA this month, led by The CalGuns Foundation and lawyer Jason Davis. A case that began in 2010 with a shotgun in the back seat ended with a settlement for the defendant and a training bulletin for law enforcement. Davis visits on Sunday with more on the wine. Read about the case at http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=572381.
Dave Workman, Senior Editor at TheGunMag.com, Communications Director for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and of course, Seattle Gun Rights Examiner writer, drops by Gun Talk with a rundown of President Obamas record on guns. For this and more, go to http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-seattle/dave-workman .

FReepmail to get On/Off The Gun Talk Pinglist
Man, I listened to this earlier driving home from Brenham.
Awesome good show, I’ll need to pay more attention to it.
Its not on on my local market anymore :(
Thanks. I will check it out during the break.
How are ya my?
I've been wanting one for a very long time, but am overwhelmed by the number of manufactures and variants.
I think one could be a great multipurpose tool and toy, but with so many choices, I'm not sure who and what to avoid.
Doin fine Dave, How about yourself?
Most all of them are fine.
I would avoid Olympic just because not all of their parts are interchangeable with other AR’s
Smokingfrog is our local AR expert
Davetex may have some insight, he’s built some AR’s
Stopping power? Try the new .825 G&S.
From left to right: 44 Mag, .825 Std, .825 Premium, .357 Mag
Holy Moly, no thanks!!!
Thanks for the ping, mylife!
I’ll be here until 9pm. Tom Selleck’s new “Jesse Stone: Benefit of The Doubt” Mystery Series Movie is on CBS-TV, his 8th of the series, and I have to watch and record it.
GBA, what do you want to use it for? Just plinking? 3 gun matches? Varmit hunting?
I'd like to get started with something decent for the money and then see where it takes me.
I love my old 1022, especially for all the things you can do and buy to make it whatever you want it to be and an AR seems to take that aspect to another level.
Add me to your list please.
Radio listening just hasn’t been a part of my Sunday routine
but this is an excellent show. Makes me want to break stuff
out and clean it.
Pretty sure these aren’t real, but they sure look impressive.
You can find a link to the podcasts at the top of the thread.
That way you can listen at your leisure.
Yeah I’m sure its a joke.
I thought an old SKS with a new stock would work, but it's not what I'm looking for.
Ok for the money, but I don't like it. You get what you pay for and I think it's time to step up with a bigger checkbook.
Here’s a decent starter.
Oops! no iron sights.
Then that DPMS Sportical mylife linked to is a good choice.
I had a DPMS and it was a fine rifle. You won’t be sorry.
I finally got to try the SSAK 47 today.
It’s harder to shoot than the SSAR 15 due to recoil, but I got pretty good with it after 40 rounds.
Shot the new SCAR 17 this week. It’s so damm loud it’s hard not to flinch. However, it’s also so smooth to shoot it’s hard to tell the difference between it and the AR15...maybe has a little more pop on the shoulder but not much after 100 rounds. The trigger pull is awesome! it hits around 1/8th or less a pull. The open sights are so cool too, it’s like a peep inside a peep and very unique. The mags are delight too, you don’t need a Lula Loader of anything. One drawback is they only make 10 & 20 round mags, they need a 30 rounder like the FN FAL has. The other drawback is they are way overpriced. Can’t wait to take it on a long range, and indoor range is just too short.
Or you could go this route:
$109 for this lower. I have one and it’s great. Lifetime warranty and such.
And an upper like this:
Takes you to about $485 Plus a rear BUIS.
A buddy of mine stopped a ahole who broke into his house in 1986. One .22 in the thigh, shattered the idiot’s femur.
The guys at my range say the feds are about to outlaw the SSAR.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check it and the company out. The price is right.
Holy Crap! I am amazed they let you shoot that indoors!
.308 indoors? Holy Crap!
Those things are cool.
I dont know how they can when they approved it.
What firearm fires that? It looks bigger than my .50cal Beowulf!
Wow, that is an awesome weapons system. However it is way out of my budget.
I’d love to kick the tires on one though.
They said I could shoot my SSAR indoors too. Not tried it yet, emptying a mag in 3 seconds sounds expensive.
That’s got to hurt! LOL
One word, 0bama.
One day soon we will be awash in Mil surplus ammo again.
Hey there Frog!!
Traded my jammamatic Coonan .357 for it. They gave me $700 and I just couldn’t walk away. Last gun shop wouldn’t give me more than $300.
Wally World sells AR-15’s ??
Can’t go wrong with a Colt, but there are other ones that are plenty good too.
Damn it they stole the pic I stole!
