OH BS!! I am a realist and not an “all or nothing” Conservative as you seem to be. In life there are PRIORITIES and these priorities are not static. At this particular time what we are facing is a financial Armageddon at both the Fed and local level and this along with getting rid of one of it’s major causes (Obama and Senate Dems)is priority # 1.

If things were otherwise going well in the State I lived in and there was no Obama to deal with then I probably would be up in arms over the Gov appt of a gay man because that would be the primary issue. I cannot get to exercised about it now because in the scheme of things it is not near the top.

Jumping to conclusions is never a good idea.

"What you are implying is that an [R] elected to state-wide or national office from a [D]-leaning state must act like a [D] when making supreme court picks? Nonsense."

I agree it would be "nonsense". But politics is a pretty crappy game and the #1 job appears to be survival. This is why as much as we would love Scott Brown to be a super Conservative along the lines of say a Reagan, the pure fact is in that State he would never get elected if he were. A politician must "mold" his credentials to fit those of the constituency by whom he wants to be elected. Does this mean he compromises his beliefs occasionally? It sure does and that is reality. The bottom line is you cannot affect a change unless you first get yourself into a position where that is possible. Yeah, it sucks but it is nonetheless reality.

"Christie is a million times better than any Dem governor would be."

I believe you have said in a few words what I was trying to say in many more.

Thanks; I don’t know why some people on FR can’t see the difference between a somewhat conservative Republican and a flaming liberal Dem.

I hope Christie presses the attacks on Obama right up to the election; NJ (like most states) is in play this year because of how horrible the economy is. Everyone that isn’t running has to function as Repub attack dogs in the same manner that Obama used proxies in 2008 so that he could play “post-partisan” nice guy.

Promoting the homosexual agenda is not being a “realist”. It’s being a “leftist”. Chrisite is a social liberal. It’s quite simple. It’s possible and actually realistic and rational to be an all-around conservative; much more realistic than being a one foot in the conservative camp and one foot in the leftists pro-homoagenda etc camp.
