Poll: Obama, Romney In Dead Heat [America Divided: Despite Poor Economy, 1/2 Want Obama Re-Elected!]

Poll: Obama, Romney In Dead Heat

By Jon Cohen and Dan Balz, Monday, May 21

After months of aggressive campaigning on jobs and the economy, President Obama and Mitt Romney, his likely Republican challenger, are locked in a dead heat over who could fix the problem foremost on voters’ minds, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The parity on economic issues foreshadows what probably will continue to be a tough and negative campaign. Overall, voters would be split 49 percent for Obama and 46 percent for Romney if the November election were held now. On handling the economy, they are tied at 47 percent.

Despite flare-ups over issues including contraception and same-sex marriage, more than half of all Americans cite the economy as the one concern that will decide their vote in the fall, relegating others — such as health care, taxes and the federal deficit — to single-digit status.

More than eight in 10 Americans still rate the national economy negatively, but there are strains of optimism as it continues to recover from the collapse of 2008. A majority of Americans — 54 percent — say they are more hopeful than anxious about the situation over the next few years, while 58 percent are bullish about their financial prospects.

You are free to act like a spoiled child who did not get his way.

Romney, at his worst, is not a commie crook and will be a breath of fresh air for you who are concerned with stench.

Mature voters understand that you can’t always get what you want.

Why couldn’t other candidates raise more money from conservatives, when there is such a huge tea party/ conservative movement?

All you’re saying is, the others lost. They didn’t raise enough money, the media didn’t help them, and Romney’s attacks worked on them.

It’s hardly a conspiracy or rocket science, they just lost.

In any event, I assume this was not a likely voters poll?

LoL, this piece of propaganda polled “adults” for crying out loud. Add 10% to the Romney total.

No.. I think honestly 49% do want him reelected. That is about the same percentage that is getting a hand out.

What we have to do is count on many of them staying home. Obama doesn’t have the following he did in O8.. People are likely not going to be all that trilled about going to the polls for him.

“Which makes you wonder how far the average I.Q. in this country has fallen over the past few years. I’ll bet we’ve dropped of 10 or 20 points at least.”

This has been my contention for quite some time.
As I look from outside, I see absolute IDIOTS, such as that stupid Obot teacher in NC.
I will say it over and over, the Marxist have taken over education and media in America.
I do not see how the country will recover.

“Adults” were polled so it is deliberately stupid.

Collectively they did. Romney never got more than 50% in states where 2 or more other conservatives where on the ticket.

The problem was to many to chose from and no one really pulled the conservatives in. Kane started to then the bimbo eruption happened. I think, had he been able to handle that and stay in the race he could have been the one to beat Mittens.

Romney is on top of every major Lefty agenda item, from single payer system to Cap and Trade to raising taxes, albeit Romney will do it the way he did it in his home state.

Mitt Gimmick 2012, that’s who you’re supporting. If that is what “mature” voters want, it explains why this country has been in decline for so long and continues to collapse.

Rass has Obama on top 47 - 45, with 5% preferring Third Party, and 5% Undecided. Romney has fallen like a rock in Rassmussen.

Who do you suppose these 10% are? Me, for sure, but who else? The jobless don’t seem to be going for Romney, and increasing economic activity isn’t bringing the Independents to Romney either.

May God be with us. May we be with God.

Not likely voters, not registered voters, but “adults”.

Stupid propaganda.

No Williams, all I am saying, is that the worst candidate possible, from a conservative perspective, appears to have gained the nomination of the GOP.

A candidate whose record declares him to be a lying, left-wing, progressive liberal.

A candidate who, because he had more money, and because he is unafraid to lie about his opponents on a continual basis, was able to outlast his opponents.

A candidate who could not garner a majority of votes in any southern state in any conservative stronghold, but was able to handily win those states that were either moderate or liberal. He didn't win those states he needs to win in November and he won in those states he can't win in November.

Nice graphic, but what's your point?

In case you missed it, Newt dropped out weeks ago. He now endorses Romney. Doesn't make me happy to say that since I was a Newt guy, but reality is very sobering.

There are only two choices left. Pick one.

Before you answer remember this, Perot was a third choice and that didn't work out very well.

If you have convinced yourself that there is ANY possibility that Romney will beat Obama, then I think that I understand your quote: “- - - I pray your efforts to re-elect Obama fail.”

I see NO possibility of Romney winning anything but the RINO Nomination to lose to Obama in November.

IF anybody but Romney can beat Obama, then let us Nominate him in Tampa.

BTW, Who could better win the key State of Florida: Obama, Romney or Allen West? As Florida goes, so goes the Nation - - - .

“What we have to do is count on many of them staying home”

I'm probably not staying home but I'm not voting for either Romney or Obama. I'll vote for conservatives down the ticket.

Its clear the GOP will not nominate a conservative presidential candidate and will instead try to push a liberal down conservatives throats, so conservatives need to push their candidates from the bottom up...

You are free to act like a spoiled child who did not get his way.

Like I haven't heard that one before along with "You're from DU", "I guess you are voting for Obama.", "How does it feel to be working for the DNC", and a whole host of other immature prattle from those unwilling to debate Romney's record of lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberalism.

I can't vote for anyone Republican or Democrat, who:

1. Implemented Gay Marriage
2. Supported Abortion
3. Nominated 27 out of 36 extreme left-wing Progressive Liberal judges
4. Implemented an "Assualt" Weapons ban.
5. Implemented Socialized Medicine with a $50 Abortion
6. Raised taxes/fees by $700 million.
7. Implemented a Carbon Cap and Trade system
8. Supported Amnesty for Illegals via McCain-Kennedy.
9. Supported the Brady Bill
10. Supported and forced Gay Adoption
11. Supported Global Warming.

That's not the record of a Republican. It's the record of a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal.
