The 'This is Spinal Tap' star was taken to St. Lukes Hospital in critical condition, fire officials said.
Laverne & Shirley star Michael McKean was injured when he was struck by a car on the upper West Side Tuesday afternoon, police sources said.
McKean, 64, a New York City native who played Lenny on the hit television show, was seen bleeding from the head after a car barreled into him at W. 86th St. and Broadway just before 3 p.m., witnesses and the FDNY said.

Great writing here. Barreled suggest a speeding car at least or violating a signal.
How about just the facts and leave the drama to the society page.
Apparently the driver was not at fault so lets not use inflammatory words unnecessarily.

Doesn’t say anything about who hit him, so I’ll assume it was a hispanic male who then fled (staggered) away from the scene.

Well, a garbage can and a mailbox were knocked over so, unless McKean's flying body knocked them down. I don't know how the driver or someone else wasn't to blame.

Sad to hear that...he is a fine actor...”Spinal Tap”, “A Mighty Wind”, “Best in Show”, one of the finest improv actors of our time.
To: jimbo123
Crap, thats not a minor accident. Hope he pulls through without too much damage.

Good to hear he’s out of critical condition.
Every once in a while, when walking down an avenue and looking at the traffic in NYC, I wonder why more people on the sidewalk aren’t hit by out of control cars.

"A Mighty Wind" and "Best in Show" are two of my favorites. Love the eccentricity of the two sub-cultures. Prayers for recovery and healing.
As an aside, does anyone know if a Joe Biden motorcade was in NYC?

Given the driver also hit and knocked over a large metal urban trashcan and a mailbox, pulling a metal blue postal mailbox out of the ground, speeding is a reasonable assumption.

You can’t assume the driver was not at fault. They write these stories so as not to get sued, so it could well be the driver was at fault.

He, as Morris Fletcher, also traded bodies with Fox Mulder on The X-Files and smacked Scully on the behind. Classic episodes.

Indeed he was. He was in at least three X-files episodes I can think of off the top of my head...playing the enigmatic Morris Fletcher.

I couldn't stand him as one of the Lenny/Squiggy characters in that insipid Laverne and Shirley but what he's done since then, much of which has already been mentioned, made him one of my favorite actors (I add "Young Doctors in Love").
I wish him a speedy recovery and shall pray for him.

How ironic that I bought Short Circuit Two this weekend at Half Price books and watched it last night.
Best of luck to Michael.
