Some Afrikaners accuse the ANC of spreading hatred

Mr Terreblanche, 69, became famous in the 1980s for his fire-breathing speeches advocating a separate Boer nation. He was beaten to death at his remote farm in April 2010, allegedly over a wage dispute with two workers.

Followers of Mr Terreblanche have said the decision would prove a turning point for what they say is a growing number of Afrikaners who are fed up with the country's black leadership, the "genocide" of white farmers and being treated as "second class citizens".

They have threatened protest marches by thousands of balaclava-clad supporters through the country's main cities, and unspecified, violent action to get their point across.

Experts say the far-Right does not have sufficient numbers to launch a prolonged violent campaign but fear a "lone ranger scenario" where a handful of radicals launch an attack on a black school.

Frans Cronje, from the South African Institute of Race Relations, said the far-Right had little political clout in itself but the political fallout of such an attack would be "very significant".

"It's perfectly possible and that's why these guys are dangerous," he added.

I sure hope the Boers have some stashes of R1s and MAGs buried...I have a sick feeling they’re gonna need ‘em.

Same reason people stayed in their old urban enclaves after they’d descended into ghettoes...some weren’t in a position to move (financial or physical), and some just aren’t able to let go.

because it is their country too — they and their forefather’s lived there. These are white, but they are Africans.

Not anymore it's not.

There were a lot of white Rhodesians. It was their country, too.
How'd everything work out for them?

Not very well, but that’s not what I’m arguing. I agree with you that for an outsider it makes sense to leave, but for these folks who ARE part of this land, it’s unthinkable. Imagine if tomorrow folks threaten you in the USA and some non-American says “why are you waiting there, leave now”?
