‘Barcode everyone at birth’ (Mark of the Beast?)
bbc.com ^ | 5/22/12 | Elizabeth Moon

Posted on 05/23/2012 2:28:02 PM PDT by Evil Slayer

Each week a global thinker from the worlds of philosophy, science, psychology or the arts is given a minute to put forward a radical, inspiring or controversial idea – no matter how improbable – that they believe would change the world.

This week science fiction writer Elizabeth Moon argues that everyone should be given a barcode at birth.

“If I were empress of the Universe I would insist on every individual having a unique ID permanently attached - a barcode if you will; an implanted chip to provide an easy, fast inexpensive way to identify individuals.

It would be imprinted on everyone at birth. Point the scanner at someone and there it is.

Having such a unique barcode would have many advantages. In war soldiers could easily differentiate legitimate targets in a population from non combatants.

This could prevent mistakes in identity, mistakes that result in the deaths of innocent bystanders. Weapons systems would record the code of the use, identifying how fired which shot and leading to more accountability in the field.

Anonymity would be impossible as would mistaken identity making it easier to place responsibility accurately, not only in war but also in non-combat situations far from the war.”

She represents the demographic of those who would implement such policy. They believe that they would be safer to implement yet other policies that lurk in their minds. See those favored constituents in the shadows. They’re in every locale.

Washington Mutual ad, 2002. For obvious reasons, both funny ha-ha and funny hmmmmm...

(Yes, that’s Jane Lynch as the first teller, Tim DeKay from “White Collar” as the customer she tags, and (my personal favorite) Melissa McCarthy as the second teller. “I hate when these things don’t scan!”)

It shocking is that people would entertain such a notion, for even an instant.

This was said about the aggrandizement of homosexuality only a couple of generations ago.

It is as if some terrible madness is sweeping the planet.

This is nothing compared...

No my friend. Utopia is a fantasy created in mind of human, why - for it is in human nature to live in harmony of life that was giving. Utopia is a recollection of before a fall in Garden of Eden. It is still in our hearts, missing a true peace, and touch of Love from God.

Utopia though now is just use for political agenda. It does not exist, for it can’t. It is imagination.

Tyranny and slavery are like brothers, we are slaves of a system, we are slaves because we as humans don’t know how to get along, it is all about Power, I am better then you, you are stupid, you are idiot, you don’t know what you talking about, you are a looser, I am dominant — Pride.

I will write this - if we as humans cannot understand each other on this Earth, and we go against each other, how can we be in Kingdom of God? Utopia lives, lies lives, reality is: choices.

Merci

Some of these people describe “Utopia” as a place where the state keeps you “safe”, feeds you, shelters you, gives you healthcare.....

Sounds exactly like a prison to me.

This author asking for the barcodes doesn’t have to explain what governments would do with it, I think those of us who can think for ourselves know already.

I agree with everything you wrote by the way.

Yes my friend, for they are looking not to hard work, accomplish something, they just exist not to live.

I call people like this parasite, like a virus.

You know author will not write what a government will do with information, we are intelligent enough to know how is already being use by different agencies.

I can assure you, many will take mark not because they have to, because they want to. Utopia for them is easy way out, and then………………
Merci

What an evil moron Elisabeth Moon is! We are already born with unique identifiers: finger prints. For all we know, the ultimate creator is keeping track of us, catagorizing us for end-time placement already. She can’t effectively mess with that.

This Elizabeth Moon is just doing a publicity-seeking outrage of the week. Such scoundrels do such things because it both gets them the publicity they crave, and it has no serious repercussions.

She probably sat in a coffee house and pondered what outrageous thing she could say that would be guaranteed to upset people.

“Hmmm... Prohibit the owning of dogs and cats? A total prohibition of tobacco use? Wait, I’ve got it, chip implants and bar codes! That will annoy people!”

Utopianists have never been the most rational thinkers.

Funny how these type of people consider themselves 'intellectuals', when in point of fact, there can be no such thing as an 'intellectual' socialist. The abject failure of socialism every time it's tried never prevents these 'intellectuals' from continuing to push socialism.

You cannot thing rationally when you suffer from such severe cognitive dissonance. And in reality, there is no difference between these people and religious cultists--the end results are always the same--many many dead people.

How can something so absolutely cliché be considered outrageous.
It’s astounding that the BBC knocked this one out.

Results are based of human behavior, and there will always be death, for it is all about one thing: Power. And death is part of life. We are born to die.
