Exclusive: New Evidence Possible in Manson Family Murders

Possible new evidence has surfaced in the Manson Family murders and police are poised to hear it for the first time, according to documents obtained by NBC4.

In a letter dated March 19, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck requested "eight hours or so" of audio recordings between attorney Bill Boyd and his then-client Charles "Tex" Watson, according to a U.S. bankruptcy filing.

Watson, the former right-hand man of Charles Manson, is currently serving a life sentence for his involvement in the 1969 Manson Family murders.

Although the LAPD has yet to receive the recordings, police believe the interviews could contain information about unsolved murders.

"The LAPD has information that Mr. Watson discussed additional unsolved murders committed by followers of Charles Manson," Beck wrote in a request to a trustee with the U.S. Department of Justice.

If these tapes are a discussion between Watson and his attorney, then I can imagine they can be valid evidence in a murder trial. How can they even be public?

How is it Timothy McVeigh received a swift execution, yet this Manson puke still draws breath?

My worry is they’ll find some misconduct on the part of someone and reason that Manson and some of his crew deserve to be set free.

This guy and his followers should never be allowed to mix with the public again.

Worry not, DoughtyOne .... let not your heart be troubled.

He has been a sucky prisoner and he gets five-year denials at each of his parole hearings, which he doesn't bother to attend ... and he's in his 70s. He will die in prison.

Not a one of the Parole Board Commissioners wants to be known as the asshat that approved his release. And even if they recommended release, it has to be approved by Gov. Jerry Brown ... and even THAT industrial-strength douchebag won't release Manson.

Manson originally was given a death sentence. I don’t recall whether others in the gang were. But he and every other death row puke in the country were commuted to lifers by 9 men in black robes. When the berobed later reinstated a slightly modified death penalty they didn’t allow any they’d elevated to lifers, no matter how flagrant their guilt, to be considered for it.

Boy, wonder how a rumor that Obama is going to pardon Manson will play?

Charlie Manson was OWS before OWS was cool.

The wild thing is that it seems that Obama, his handlers, and his minions, are all trying to use OWS to create a race and class war, something that Manson had hoped to do with his "Helter Skelter."

Obama is trying to bring Manson's dreams to fuition.

I know what you mean... David Berkowitz lived just a couple of miles from my father's place during the "Son of Sam" summmer, in Yonkers. And some of his "rituals" were performed in Untermeyer Park, 2 blocks from his place.

I would think that Gov Moonbeam knew Manson back in the day. He lived on Wonderland Ave. And the Family hung out in Laurel Canyon all the time.

"Nothing says he can't..."

The law says he can't.

Manson was convicted of a state crime in a state court. The President's pardon power extends only to those convicted of a federal crime in a federal court.

Exactly, the only difference between charlie Manson
and OWS is that they haven’t killed anyone yet.
