I know I know.. ya already plan to eat and drink enough this week-end to sustain a small squad of recons a month in the bushes.. and the latest news on nascar and its green 'bent' of late probably grates ya like crazy

Don't forget to budget in the 600 miler after the Indy 500.. run at King JJ's home track no less. It should be a real feast, a smorgasboard of action.. if we're lucky. ;-]

Tune-in HERE for the NASCAR Broadcast Schedule this week-end

Lowe's Motor Speedway

Race promoter/car dealer Burton Smith and driver Curtis Turner formed a partnership to build a 1.5-mile oval

north of Charlotte in 1959.

On June 19, 1960, the first World 600 was run at the new facility. A year later, like many superspeedways of

the era, the track fell into Chapter 11 reorganization from which it eventually emerged despite lagging ticket

sales.

Smith left in 1962 to pursue other business interests but returned in 1975 as majority stockholder and

regained control of the day-to-day operations, hiring Humpy Wheeler as general manager.

Lowe's Motor Speedway has the distinction of being the first sports facility in America to offer year-round condominiums overlooking the speedway in 1984.

Charlotte does have the tendency of separating the men from the boys.
Should be a good race.

add this to the mix.. 90s at both tracks possible

Memorial Day Weekend Heat Wave
http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/memorial-weekend-heat-wave/65481

This year’s Indianapolis 500 on Sunday is forecast to take place with blazing afternoon sunshine, a high temperature challenging the highest May temperature on record and very humid conditions. The RealFeel temperature is forecast to be between 100 and 105 degrees for the Indy 500.

Meanwhile, NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600, scheduled to start early Sunday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway will begin with temperatures near 90 degrees.

Don't forget Monaco at 6:00 am. That looks good too. Replay Monday at noon on Speed.

Burgers, beer, racing, and thinking about the Fallen Heros. Now that's a holiday.

I was filmed to do a “shout-out” for this race. If you watch the race watch for a medic wearing a scrub top, bonny hat and eye pro from the 223rd EN BN from West Point, MS that will be me.
