Veterans Give Romney Big Lead Over Obama (58% to 34%)
Gallup ^ | 05/27/2012 | Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- U.S. veterans, about 13% of the adult population and consisting mostly of older men, support Mitt Romney over Barack Obama for president by 58% to 34%, while nonveterans give Obama a four-percentage-point edge.

Vote Preferences by Veteran Status, April-May 2012

These data, from an analysis of Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted April 11-May 24, show that 24% of all adult men are veterans, compared with 2% of adult women.

Obama and Romney are tied overall at 46% apiece among all registered voters in this sample. Men give Romney an eight-point edge, while women opt for Obama over Romney by seven points. It turns out that the male skew for Romney is driven almost entirely by veterans. Romney leads by one point among nonveteran men, contrasted with the 28-point edge Romney receives among male veterans.

Vote Preferences by Gender and Veteran Status, April-May 2012

The small percentage of female veterans in the U.S., in contrast to their male counterparts, do not differ significantly in their presidential vote choice from the vast majority of women who are not veterans.

The proportion of U.S. men who are armed forces veterans rises dramatically among those who are 60 and older. The military draft was in force in the U.S. from shortly before the U.S. entry into World War II until the early 1970s. A majority of men now 70 to 89 served in the military, including almost three-quarters of those aged 80 to 89. Less than a fifth of men younger than 50 have served in the military. There is little variation in military service among women across these age groups.

I'm disappointed that its not 85% for Romney and less than 15% for the Poser. Are 34% of the veterans not informed or and happy with what is in store for them on the horizon with the health care the veterans will be getting under Obamacare?

I have heard Romney called a centrist Democrat. I was not or him before that for some reason. Lets call this election anyone but Obama and organize a new political party called the Tea Party and get Sarah President.

“Are 34% of the veterans not informed or and happy with what is in store for them on the horizon with the health care the veterans will be getting under Obamacare?”

Those must be the 34% who are always shown in photo-ops—where on earth does his highness find vets that are ready, willing and able to make nice with this pos?

Obama and Romney are tied overall at 46% apiece among all registered voters in this sample.

Registered voter samples are mostly meaningless as only about 40 percent of REGISTERED voters even bother to vote. Surveys of LIKELY voters make more statistical sense.

Just one more proof of the axiom that you pay more attention if you have skin (or Blood) in the game.. To be older, and not see this new world with a mixture of fear, and sorrow, means that dementia has already begun.. Sheeese

REMEMBERING MY FELLOW VETERANS, today and always.. GOD BLESS YOU ALL..

My guess is that 34% are either Black or union members.

Remember, a lot of these Vets were drafted. I'm not trying to denigrate their service, but some do not have the same mindset as those who choose to serve willingly.

Better yet, how many of that 34% of registered voters are really Vets or really registered at all? As another poster mentioned, most likely the only thing they actually physically registered for was the Draft. The voter thing only came about because of Motor-voter.

Romney is so patriotic that he and his extended family cult(which he is a high priest in) has managed to avoid military service and run from fighting our nations wars going back to when they fled to Mexico to avoid getting arrested for polygamy.

Romney is a scumbag and snake oil salesman who would make P.T. Barnum blush.

Sucked every last dollar out of the companies they acquired and then filed for bankruptcy, ripping off the creditors in the process, that was their M.O., sure it’s legal, but so is partial birth abortion.

Not to mention that he isn’t any ideologically different than the skinny kenyan muslim faggot we have in the WH now, I think Obama at least has a brother in law who served.

I’ll be not voting for either of these treacherous pieces of dog crap come November.

IFC showed that movie yesterday, and I watched a little of it. It really was scary; we're practically there. We certainly have the idiot black president who gives people the finger.
