"But his wives say the situation suits them perfectly too. They confronted any feelings of jealousy early on ('of course there were moments we were jealous,' Alina admits), and now manage to live harmoniously."

Yeah, right. Ever watch "Sister Wives?" They rattle on about how wonderful the lifestyle is, how it makes you "better", and yet they're constantly jealous, and one wife is on anti-depressants.

Plus they support sodomite marriage.

And polyandry too.

We’re all goin’ to Hell, boys! As a society anyway.

A Muslim once argued with me that polygamy in Islam is superior to that in Mormonism because the man must be able to support all wives equally, whereas Mormonism sticks a lot of them on welfare.

As soon as the Democrats figure that out, they’ll be all for polygamy. More folks on welfare, more Democratic voters, more power to Democratic politicians.

The only difference between several women sharing on husband and the baby-daddy culture of some groups is that this man is applying the label wife, looks faithful to those he’s married, and focusing support and attention on the one’s he’s made instead of hunting for the next lay without bothering to support them.
Polygamy is worse than monogamy, but it is better than no family structure at all - which single women with multiple children by baby-daddies can’t have unless we devolve to matrilineal cultures.

Exactly. The homosexualists’ consciences are convicting them so they’re trying to criminalize all criticism of same sex acts so they’ll “feel better about themselves.”

If God intended polygamy, then the ratio of women to men would be much higher in order to give men multiple wives, but that is not so. This indicates God intended for marriage to be with one man and one woman

You're not thinking fourth-dimensionally!
Where's it written that polygamy must only involve multiple wives?

Imagine multiple husbands...Yeah, that's the ticket!
Oh! How creative can we get!! Why should we limit ourselves? We haven't even started with barnyard animals, let alone feral beasts.

Pinkbell - I’m taking a bit of a break from FR - checking pings and freepmail - just too busy right now and just needed a bit of time off.

But keep pinging me so I stay in the loop and I will no doubt be “back on the job” in a bit.

Must be hard on him to have to remember three birthdays and three anniversaries.

Yeah, but with the twins, not so much...

I haven't watched an episode, but in the previews and ads for the program, I've not noticed that any of them seem particularly happy. (I would say that they don't compare that favorably with the Duggars, for example, just based on that limited exposure).

"Vulgar?" A woman having more than one husband, "vulgar?" No more so than his having more than one wife, IMO.

Besides, I have news for him and any other polygamist out there: if their "lifestyle" ever gets recognized by the mainstream, polyandry (having more than one husband) will be right behind it. On what basis would you deny a woman the right to be married to more than one man, if you give the right to a man to be married to more than one woman? The men don't like it?

I don't favor either one. And as far as the "Sister Wives" folks, I want to just tell them to shut up and sit down. Nobody made them choose their "lifestyle."

I don't think it's that simple. True, males and females are born in same numbers, but when you look at the number of "marriageable" men then the picture isn't quite so clear. So many men are killed in wars or are in prison, on probation or parole, addicted to drugs/alcohol/porn/gambling or video games or spent their boyhoods on sedatives or just never moved out of their parents' basements that it's not so easy for a young woman to find a decent man nowadays. In short, it's not the number of boys born, it's the number of real men made. And we're clearly coming up short in that department.

In addition, polygamy was common throughout the OT, so there's some biblical sanction for it.

Finally, say what you will about polygamy, it's not nearly as "out there" as gay "marriage." If the law can find a "fundamental right" for two guys or two girls to get married, then it can certainly find room for a guy and two girls, or a girl and two guys. I mean, what about bi-sexuals? Don't the marriage laws have to accommodate them, too?

I see no reason in law at this point to deny polygamists the same rights as everybody else. I'm not saying that's a good thing, I'm just saying that's the point we've come to.

I think it is serious mistake even to talk about polygamy and homosexual “faux marriage” in the same sentence.

The two examples are night and day. Polygamy is but a distortion, or misapplication, of a legitimate relationship (heterosexual marriage).

Lest we forget our biblical history, Abraham, Jacob, David, and Solomon all practiced polygamy — and, like the man in the story here, Jacob was married to two sisters: Leah and Rachel — each of whom also came with a concubine (Bilhah and Zilpah).

Homosexual “marriage,” on the other hand, is like a purple unicorn: It does not exist in reality, and it represents an absolute rejection of biblical morality.

Granted, I am not here to recommend polygamy. However, I abhor the thought or “homosexual marriage.”

Dennis Prager eloquently points out that — although homosexuality has been practiced for millennia — never before our generation, has ANYONE EVER proposed homosexual marriage with a straight face.

Polygamy, by comparison to sodomite “marriage,” is a time-honored — and reasonably respectable — arrangement.

Unless G-d intended polygamy (Like Genesis) and intended live’s male losers to be celibate or homosexual.

Or, since women live longer than men, men could pass around the less desirable women, while life’s winners monopolize the more desirable women.

Rather like it happens in Hollywood now.

Move to Massachusetts and I believe you can build a case foundation for your rights to be in any marriage as you define it...

Monogamy is the historical standard for marriage across all great civilizations and nearly all societies on earth. Polygyny (as described here is the correct term, not polygamy) has been practiced among the wealthiest males in a society. God has allowed polygyny, but never polygamy and only under some clear, specific occasions.

I find it interesting that a 2nd wife in some societies has more legal rights than misteress have in the United States.
