That’s right; in India either the law is ignored or the female child is simply abandoned to die. I don’t think Americans appreciate the Judeo-Christian framework by which much of Western Civilization was shaped.
Women (like men) have a practical biological purpose in reproducing; contrary to the “champions of diversity” they bring nothing additional to the table that a man can’t provide. In fact, in today’s legal atmosphere, hiring a woman makes no sense at all (given the superior family leave they qualify for, legal risks simply because they are women in terms of hiring/promotions/firing, etc.).
I often think that same thing about our Judeo-Christian framework. There are many things that we do not know about some non-Christian cultures which are sometimes lost is the lure of the exotic. India has a big problem with murder of wives who cannot pay their dowry. They are doused in kerosene and set on fire and this is chalked up to a simple kitchen fire. Callous. Then remember the old practice of forcing the widow to throw herself on her husband’s funeral pyre.
