The week leading up to Memorial Day found an article circulating about President Obama's possible "Jimmy Carter Moment".
The UK Telegraph opined that even with many polls suggesting a close race leading up to the conventions--
...The American people ousted Jimmy Carter by a landslide vote.... electing Ronald Reagan in 1980.
Earlier in the year, Lt. Col Oliver North (USMC ret) penned a simlar thought...
About Obama's possible "Jimmy Carter Moment"; though much more about foreign policy and national security issues.
My comparison here is the same theme of "deja vu all over again" -- from my point of view...
THISSSSss.... was much more the "Jimmy Carter Moment" that may well sink the Obama campaign:

PRESIDENT OBAMA'S "JIMMY CARTER MOMENT" ON TV....
During his May 10, 2012 TV interview with ABC'S Robin Roberts--discussing the raging social controversy regarding same-sex "marriage":
OBAMA ASKS HIS DAUGHTERS
(NOTE: Forward to 4:10 for the pertinent comments.
My question is simply this:
Why can't these sophisticated, brilliant, elite, well-paid politicians simply stand on the courage of their convictions?
Especially when those convictions are purportedly Christian?
On May 8th... the voters of North Carolina, (following many similar referendums in other states) have also "spoken" on this issue.
What say you?
“if jimmy carter were my father, that’s what he would look like”— Barack Hussein Obama
Ex-Prez Jimmah Catarrh is a snotty old man!
BTTT
This is what I think will happen. I specifically remember the “too close to call” predictions right up until the day before Nov., 1980 election.
By the time I came home that nite, turned on TV, and John Chancellor was sitting in front of a Nation of blue (back then the GOP was represented by blue).
I was stunned, a whopping landslide in what was supposed to be a close call. So many undecideds/moderates/independents will vote against the incumbent when they sense things are not the way they should be.
November will be a vote to oust Obama, not to bring Romney in.
Why didn't he ask his sons?
At the Iowa State Fair Grounds on Thursday, Obama said: We dont need another political fight about ending a womans right to choose, or getting rid of Planned Parenthood or taking away affordable birth control. We dont need that. I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same economic opportunities as my sons.
In 1980 the polls were all leftist lies trying to keep Carter in the race.
The line about the late-breaking undecideds was just a cover story.
The same thing will happen this year though more subtly.
November will be an anti-'Rat tsunami.
We are going to whip the commies right out of their boots!
It aint easy to admit you believe in the Truth Fairy.
Whatchagot against the Tooth Fairy!!? He was always nice to me. (And he paid me fir my teeth, now it costs $4000 dineros to “save” a tooth)
We can, however, not allow them to rewrite the legal definition of marriage for the 97% or so of us who are normal heterosexuals.
‘>”Why can’t these sophisticated, brilliant, elite, well-paid politicians simply stand on the courage of their convictions? “
It aint easy to admit you believe in the Truth Fairy.’
It is even harder to publicly admit you are a Marxist/Communist/Fascist/un-American who wants to disassemble what makes this country great, although to be fair, Obama has come close to stating it for those who listen carefully.
I remember that I voted about ten minuties before my precent closed and headed home. About the time I drove into my driveway Reagan was declared winner.
I share your views re the 1980 election and that something like it is likely to happen in 2012 re a last minute break for the challenger. As I recall reading about 1980, yes it was a neck and neck race of Reagan vs Carter going right down to the wire. But the night before the election, Carters team came to see him and said the internals strongly suggested he was going to lose by a landslide...and ol’ Jimmy was stunned.
I think Obama is going to lose but not be a landslide. There are too many on the left that will vote for Obama no matter what....they are the whores that want to be wards of the state.
