His shows are interesting, to this suburban shut-in, because of the exotic locations ... but he’s a grouch. I even read his book, in the spirit of fair-mindedness, and he was a grouch there, too.

Informative international visiting, though. I liked the episode where he and a pack of Sicilians got drunk, roasted dead animals, and fired rifles at random. It reminded me of my relatives in Missouri.

I enjoyed the episode with Ted Nugent. A show from Austria was interesting. But his personality can be grating.

I like the really weird locations, like Azerbaijan, or wherever it was that he went with the drunk Russian guy.

Ted Nugent was in an episode of “Miami Vice” that Der Prinz and I watched last night. My goodness, we’re all 30 years older than we were back then ...

Agreed. There’s an element of sleaze about Bourdain that’s actually creepy.

Stopped watching him long ago. If he could just talk about food I could stand him but he never misses an opportunity to interject his sophomoric, half baked, liberal ideology into his shows. He’ll be right at home at CNN and I still won’t watch him.

Ted Nugent’s “Little Miss Dangerous” was the featured song in a Miami Vice episode, too. The one where the crazy babe almost burned Rico.

He seems like a complete a$$hat, but his Kansas City show was quite good, and it included some of the better, but lesser known BBQ restaurants (including my favorite, a real BBQ joint called "LC's"), and a KC treasure, "Town Topic."

I’m a Bourdain fan. So shoot me. But not before we get to try the local fare ... and a good beer.

He's a foul-mouthed curmudgeon alright, but better an unvarnished elitist crank than the photoshopped plastic creatures who can't keep their fake smiles and smarmy mugs out of the magazine racks or half the products in the average kitchenware department.

There was a time a few years ago when a certain celebrity chef's face seemed to be plastered onto every cracker box in the grocery store. My kids even noticed that there was no escape from the ubiquitous troll, because the displays would be all over the stores. I explained to them that it was a case of extreme overexposure of a spokesperson, such that 1) consumers would get sick of her rancid smile, and 2) it showed that she was willing to promote all sorts of garbage without any sense of discriminating taste or values, thereby establishing her credibility as less than Zero.

:)

I've noticed a lot of her junk kitchenware piled up on the clearance shelves.

..he loves his steak med-rare..goose-liver..
sweet little pheasants.. dares PeTA to stop him.

He couldn’t stand the competition from Andrew Zimmern. Tony seems a bit full of himself. Seems like a good match.

I saw that show. #1 he gets his kicks doing it. #2 It gives him conservative credibility so he does it. He has gone shooting in Vietnam and a few other places
