Tracey Grissom 'shot ex-husband dead after he made an obscene gesture at her'

A woman shot and killed her husband because he made an obscene gesture at her, according to police.

Tracey Grissom, 30, from Northport, Alabama, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of her husband Hunter Daniel Grissom, 28.

Sheriff Ted Sexton says the couple had a history of domestic violence.

According to the arrest warrant, Grissom was driving to work when she saw her ex-husband at a boat landing.

She stopped to take a photo of him for litigation related to their divorce.

Sheriff Sexton says several witnesses watched as the man made an obscene gesture and the woman opened fire around 8am yesterday morning.

Authorities say the woman called 911 after using all her ammunition and told them she shot her ex-husband.

I was about to say crazy eyes, but a closer look makes it seem like they are simply the eyes of a woman who has been broken. I am not defending her - and shooting someone for an ‘obscene gesture’ (whatever that is) is wrong. Focusing solely on her eyes, those seem like sad eyes rather than crazy eyes. The crazy eye look shouts out loud. :)

Not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. She walks.

Probably not near as sad as their little daughter. No Mom for a long while, and a worthless daddy in the ground.
Court records show the couple have a four-year-old daughter together. We can only hope there is a Grand Mama ready to step right up, and take care of her.

Just a little speculation here, but Hunter had a record, and Tracey did not. She had a legal CCW gun, those permits are not issued to persons accused of perpetrating domestic violence. Therefore, the domestic violence was one sided, Tracey being the victim.

It is doubtful that Tracey is physically superior to Hunter in unarmed combat, and likely smart enough to know what would happen if he caught her off guard.

Well, she avoided the divorce and the litigation, plus she will have free rent for awhile.

More accurately, he got what he deserved IF he did what she says he did.

That the rape, assault, etc. occurred is not a fact. It is a claim by the wife.

That the cops gave it enough credence to file charges is a point in its favor for being true, but only a point.

Such charges are VERY common in bitter divorces.

A good friend of mine had the nuclear option, child molestation, used against him in his divorce. I don’t believe for a moment that it was true, but the mere fact of the accusation just devastated him.

Another friend was physically attacked by his wife during their divorce, trying to provoke him into hitting back. She wanted to be able to claim he was violent.

It’s evil for reporters to discuss old “charges” without mentioning whether or not there was ever any indictment, trial or conviction. This stuff is in the public record. Why not disclose it? Anybody can “charge” anyone with anything. The press loves moral ambiguity.

Agreed. But the physical evidence is supportive, according to the story.

True. However, there are people who voluntarily engage in very rough “loveplay” that would produce similar evidence.

My point is merely that an allegation is just that, it is not a fact. It’s not necessarily what happened, it’s what she says happened.

BTW, this article is not exactly helpful to the CCW cause. This is not what CCW is supposed to be for.

She reported that he bound her legs with his belt, dragged her from their closet into their master bedroom and sexually assaulted her.

Tracey told police she was then knocked unconscious on the floor of their bathroom and didn’t wake up until the next morning.

She went to the hospital for treatment following the alleged attack, and paperwork shows she had a gash on her head, bruises, bind marks on her feet and writing on her arm.

Court records show the couple have a four-year-old daughter together.

She was fed up, obviously. That poor little 4 yr old probably witnessed too much violence between these two for too long.

I’m with you in this.

I had to deal with a number of ex-wives - not mine - and just about anything can be slung around hoping to get something to stick to the wall.

Interesting that she drove to the boat ramp and was taking pictures of him when he made the gesture. So I would say the gesture was deserved - the shooting not.

If the charges against HIM were true, then the Texas defense applies.

Yep.
