What would really make this interesting is if Al Queada finds Saddam’s stash and uses it on the Regime.
I would love to see the administration and the NY Times explain this away.

Go Germany go! You commentators take the lead on this one! The United States is in for some training troops and others for base security, How does ~4000 sound? Oh, we’ll also be sending 5...no...6 reconnaissance jets. Germany will have to provide the logistics to support everyone we send, of course. Oh...we also have certain rules of non-engagement that we need to follow, you understand. But good on you Germans! Glad to see someone is willing to risk their soldiers and take it to those Syrians! /S

most of us who know something or have friends who are Syrian Christians know that the Assad regime is better than the alternative — they’re no angels, but the alternative is horrendous.

I’ll dispute that. I am sure most of them want peace in *their* country, but — if the islamic world exterminated the Jews and other infidels, they would be just hunky-dory with that.
