Per Severin, when Obama recently made an address regarding the Nazi concentration camps, he said that Auschwitz was run by the Polish Army. This from "the president who know more about Judaism than any other American president."
Poland is not amused. Nor am I.

I have only seen it reported that he called them Polish death camps. I haven’t seen that he said they were run by the Polish army.

I hate to defend Obama, but I do think he just misspoke. The death camps WERE in Poland, but not “Polish death camps.”

Since most leftists hate Jews and disavow at least the severity of the Holocaust, they don’t understand how to refer to the concentration camps.

He used the phrase Polish death camps not death camps in Poland. It may mean the same thing but as of this morning the Polish government has demanded and is awaiting an apology. For 70 years Pole have lived with the fact that they were not very hospitable to Polish Jews and they are very touchy about being linked with the Nazis as perpetrators of the Holocaust. The WH guy who put this on the prompter should be identified and fired. And we need a POTUS who can think about what he’s being told to say by TOTUS.
Obama ought to know...since he claimed his Uncle helped liberate Auschwitz. (Which if his uncle did would mean he fought with the Red Army—that wouldn’t be a surprise, now would it?)

I also think he misspoke, but another reason he should have been more careful is that he was giving a (posthumous) medal to a famous Pole who tried to bring news of the Jewish holocaust to the Allies.
This is more than a slip of the tongue, it is a diplomatic gaffe that his advisers should have picked up in a NY minute. It points again to how amateurish this Administration is. There is no excuse for such incompetence.
For the record. I lived two years in Poland during the days of Solidarnosc'. The Poles have every right to be insulted by such stupidity.
