The Longer Someone Stayed in School, the Likelier They’ll Be ‘Pro-Choice,’ Says Gallup Data

(CNSNews.com) - The longer Americans stay in school, the more likely they are to say they are “pro-choice” on abortion, according to newly released data from the Gallup poll.

Nonetheless, a majority of American college graduates who did not attend graduate school, as well a majority of those who have no better than a high school diploma, say they are pro-life.

In a poll of 1,024 Americans age 18 and older, conducted May 3-6, Gallup asked: “With respect to the abortion issue, would you consider yourself to be pro-choice or pro-life?”

Only 33 percent of Americans with a high school degree or less said they were “pro-choice." Meanwhile, 41 percent of those who had done “some college,” 45 percent of those who graduated from college but did not attend graduate school, and 58 percent of those who did attend graduate school described themselves as pro-choice.

On the other side of the ledger, 53 percent of those with a high school degree or less said they were “pro-life;” as did 49 percent of those who did “some college” and 53 percent of those who had earned a college degree but did not go to graduate school.

Even though a majority of college graduates who did not attend graduate school said they were pro-life, only 37 percent of those who did attend graduate school described themselves as pro-life.

Last week, Gallup released data from the same poll, showing that only 41 percent of Americans overall describe themselves as pro-choice, the lowest percentage Gallup has registered making that declaration since it started asking the question in 1995.

Also in the same poll, Gallup asked Americans whether they thought abortion should be legal under any circumstances, under most circumstances, in only a few circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances. Twenty-five percent said it should be legal under any circumstance and 13 percent said it should be legal under most circumstances. However, 39 percent said it should be legal in only a few circumstances and 20 percent said it should be illegal in all circumstances--making a majority of 59 percent who say abortion should be illegal in most or all circumstances.

Tell the big lie long enough and many will fall for it.Of course the implied message of this piece is “the more intelligent one is the more likely they’ll be pro abortion”.

I’m not surprised; Dennis Prager talks about this all the time. Universities are left-wing seminaries. Their purpose isn’t to educate, but to produce leftists.

The fact of the matter is that schools teach the DOGMA of PRagatism and that leads young folks to think that abortion is OK because, “it doesn’t hurt me.” so it must be OK. John Dewey promoted the idea of pragmatism and held that it would transform the nation by changing the way people think, or actually don’t think. TV reinforces the whole idea that we should be pragmatic in our approach to everything as opposed to actually having set beliefs. Check out Chesterton.org

I see it as the longer you hang around liberal academia the more likely you’ll become a liberal.

Has nothing to do with one’s intelligence.

Does anyone know if there is any connection between the Avon Breast Cancer Walk and Planned Parenthood, or any other pro-abortion organizations?

We have a friend who is considering walking for them, and it seems I heard at one time there was money that flowed from one of those ‘walking’ organizations and Planned Parenthood.

Nothing like 9 or 10 years of college paid for by Mom & Dad or Uncle Sam so you can get your BS, MS and PhD in Women’s Studies or some equally useless degree to guarantee that you will be fully indoctrinated as a liberal moonbat for life.

was going to put in my 2 cents but it can't be said any better than that. But I could add, "and the easier you will be to manage," but that probably goes without saying.

Professional students use abortions as a form of birth control.

The more time liberals have to brainwash youthful brains ready to soak up knowledge, the more brainwashed the end product.

The fight for young minds was lost when Americans let hippies, Maoists, Marxists and other leftists weasel their way into the public education system in larger and larger numbers until they could control it, unionize it and turn it from education to socialist indoctrination.

There is little hope to restore America to a constitutional republic unless control of the schools is wrested away from the leftists and their liberal curriculum is tossed back on the trash heap of history next to Engles, Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Che, Mao and other failed heroes of the left.

Millions of abortions means millions of children who didn't grow up to help carry the social security & medicare programs.

Here's a thought; Instead of our government helping to fund Planned Parenthood, maybe Planned Parenthood should have to make up for the money that the children they killed, would have been paying to support the system.

The longer someone extends their adolescence, the more they are willing to embrace extreme measures to evade adult responsibility. Makes sense.

So how does education correlate with birth rates?

Ha ha. Didn't work with me. I have over 36 years in school and I'm so pro-life that Wm. F. Buckley, Jr. said I'd get pilloried rather than praised over some of my anti-abortion writing.

To favor monogamous, heterosexual marriage and to oppose the killing of the unborn makes one a “neanderthal” in today’s society.

To favor random, indiscriminate sex with multiple partners of either gender, and to kill a child prior to its birth makes one “enlightened”.

This must be the end-times.

The longer one spends in the company of people who have a typical mindset while, to some degree, feeling dependent on them for one's advancement in that environment, the more susceptible one is to adopting the mindset. This was probably true of, say, the Nazi Party during WWII. The higher in the ranks one rose, the more one became committed to that ideology, if for no other reason than survival.
