Not honorable at all in my estimation - and now the big push to get the girls in fighting units. Madness Madness Madness all the way around.

Women serve well in auxiliary roles as long as we don’t pretend they are true soldiers. The problem is pretending (as the gov’t does) that it’s all the same thing - because it isn’t.

I first served in uniform from 1985-1995 in a combat arms branch. I resigned my commission and was not in the reserves. I volunteered for active duty after 9/11 and served for 4 more years as a JAG in and deployed to Afghanistan with an air cav unit.

My point is that I have seen the integration of women nonsense from the early stages and more recently and have seen it from various perspectives (combat arms leader and in an auxiliary role) and as a JAG I had a front row seat to see what caused problems for morale and discipline.

Women in the military is a failed and very expensive experiment.

One thing the “Greatest Generation” had on us is that they'd say out loud what most of us ignore or fear to contemplate: The military is the biggest government bureaucracy of all. Of course, many of them saw friends die due to idiot brass and systematic inertia. Can you think of any pop culture that came out of WWII that respected “The Brass”?

Now, we've had two generations of chickenhawks who render the military beyond criticism. No matter how stupid or PC. Soldiers breastfeeding? Must be OK. “Everyone in a uniform is a hero!”

I feel a little less safe after seeing that picture. I wonder what George Patton would have to say about breastfeeding soldiers?

The article says the picture was not posed, just going by what they said.

The photo makes undeniably clear how wrong it is to pretend women are soldiers or warriors of any kind.

Of course seeing a girl “soldier” in a prom dress at a military ball demonstrates the same thing, but we’ve all been desensitized to that.

What has happened to this country?

The Vietnam War ended the transfer of American values from one generation to the next.

My, how times have changed.

In 1954 while I was 15 and my sister 13, having been ‘farmed out’ to my Grandfather and Aunt/Uncle my mother, an RN for about 17 years tried to join the Air Force Nurse Corps and she was turned town because of me and my sister.

Also, she was a long time customer of All State Auto Ins and when she came up for renewal in 1957, they turned her down because I was 17 - and in the Navy, not living at home.
Said they didn’t insure folks with teen agers of driving age.

At least the one woman covered herself. A woman does not need to be fully exposed.

Thank you. There is nothing redeeming about these women breastfeeding in front of a camera and in uniform.

Is it wrong to assume this will be used by the Obama campaign is some way to further the “conservative War on Women” lie?

Always plenty of self-centered attention ho's who will rush in for their 15 min., no matter how offensive, inappropriate, or antisocial their behavior is.

In the Bad Old Days, exhibitionists could simply be laughed at by their neighbors. Now, everyone can be a star on teh Interwebs and pretend their personal desire to show their breasts or genitals is social activism.

Who is this ‘controversial’ to???

It is the most natural thing in the world- who looks at a breast-feeding mother and things they are seeing something wrong?

Throughout most of the Roman Empire, legionaries were not allowed to marry. Of course they had clandestine families with local women near their camps. This changed by the fall of Rome. Archeological digs of overrun or abandoned camps reveal evidence of the wives and kids living side by side with the soldiers. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

“I have so much respect for those who serve. I’m also a nursing mother (counting down the days lol!). I don’t think moms should serve. There. I wrote it. It’s not PC and I don’t care.”

The next thing you know, feminists will be fighting for the right of “military moms” to take their young-uns right into combat situations, too! Because, after all, “mom” comes first, not “country”!
