Republicans are scoffing at Democrats’ attempts to explain why President Barack Obama’s failed green-tech investments are unimportant but Mitt Romney’s few failures at Bain Capital, an otherwise wildly successful private equity firm, are a scandal.
Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter tried out the new tactic during a May 30 appearance on MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown,” when she was asked about the president’s support for Solyndra.
“The president’s not picking winners and losers, he’s making strategic investment to promote clean energy,” she said. “Mitt Romney’s role at Bain Capital was to make profits for his investors and for himself. … There were winners and losers, but Mitt Romney always won.”
Solyndra went bankrupt in 2010 after being given $535 million in taxpayers’ funds, and has since become a GOP watchword for crony capitalism.
The Solyndra money is a small portion of a larger $70 billion effort by the White House industrial policy to displace oil and gas energy with green-tech, including windmills, algae and the Chevy Volt.
Public debate over green-tech waste is damaging to Obama’s 2012 campaign because of the lack of tangible payoff in terms of increased employment.
“Well, no, it’s not fair. … Let’s just take a look at the facts of Solyndra,” Cutter said at the start of a 104-second answer. On Tuesday, Carney fended off a similar question with a 42-second evasive answer. “Look, there, there, there is the … the difference in that … your overall view of what your responsibilities are as president, and what your view of the economic future is,” he said.
Republicans scoffed at the answers from Cutter and Carney.

One point brought up by a blogger is that the Obama administration shut down many, many GM dealerships (those in Republican areas), thus putting how many hundreds of people out of work and destroying the livelihoods of untold numbers of dealership owners. Why don’t the Republicans put some numbers to paper on that little maneuver? Did he close down dozens of dealerships, hundreds of dealerships? How many individuals lost their jobs and how many move lost dealerships that had been in the family for one or more generations? Why has the media not followed up on the numbers?

Carney’s answer, eventually, boils down to government additionally providing training for displaced workers, and it’s a good bet that the only “training” a Chevy dealer got was directions to the exit door of his own dealership. This removes whatever small distinction Carney was struggling to make between Obama’s big-government, crony-capitalism approach to employment, and Romney’s.
Many Chrysler dealerships as well.

You can bet the TV commercials will have the GM dealers and the Crysler dealers being shut down. They will show the history we all need to invest in helping the PAC’s with money to show the truth of the Obama years.
I think the proper question he should have ask Ms. Cutter is: how much money did Solindra cost the tax paying public vs. How much money did Bain cost the tax paying public?

Lets see how the left shall twist things around to make it look like it was really GWB’s fault Solyndra failed. With the knowledge prior to the goons getting in, Solyndra would not have been given all that money.

The contortions that the administration goes through to classify jobs as “green jobs” is ridiculous.
