An outstanding kid! A future soldier/sailor/airman/Marine perhaps?

I think if it was me I’d have told the kid thanks but no thanks unless the family that accepted his offer has a kid or kids at about the same age. IMO, sometimes it’s better for adults to politely decline such an offer from a 9 year-old.

I disagree, Disney should replace the free trip from their own pocket. The donor is following his conscience, which is a thing you can't teach. These values used to be common in America, but today seem rare,...rare enough for a newspaper article. It's the same when someone returns a lost billfold and everyone seems astonished.

I'm sure the kid will locate a family with kids to donate to. If I were Disney, I would want to be associated with the donor more than something like "gay day".

But that's just me.

God Bless him.

Hope the unit of the fallen warrior honors him.

“thanks but no thanks...”? I wasn’t you that won the trip and we don’t care what you would do. We only care what this young boy has done to make his family proud and the fallen soldier’s family grateful.

Why take the wind out of the kid’s magnanimous offer? Read the full story and watch the video. The fallen soldier left behind a wife and 2 year old little girl. This young boy is learning the true nature of generosity and humanity. He’s learning the greater lessons of life. It’s the gesture that counts. We need more kids like this in the world.

Some naysayers want to criticize the gesture. These people seemed to always want to rain on someone else’s parade. Give it a rest.

I'm sure with Disney it's all about the money. Remember last year when they tried to trademark the name Seal Team 6? If Disney is truly interested in the military, they can join forces with this child now that he's brought the need to their attention. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

I disagree. Yes, it can be taught. Why would anyone think not?

...”These values used to be common in America, but today seem rare,...rare enough for a newspaper article.”

Rare? I doubt that. I think kids used to rightfully keep things for themselves until guilt-tripping liberalism, public schools and the media started drumming things into their young skulls full of mush.

Exactly what I mean. The gesture is enough, is it not? Let the boy enjoy his prize knowing that he at least made the offer to somebody he thought was worthy. Apparently, it was a lesson he had already learned before he’d won the prize unless somebody else put him up to it.
