After a lengthy deliberation, a North Carolina jury has reached a verdict in the John Edwards mistress-and-money trial.
The verdict is expected to be read shortly.
The jury began deliberating on May 18 after a month of testimony, which at times sounded more like a steamy soap opera than a trial on the intricacies of campaign finance rules.
Charged with six counts of violating federal campaign laws, Edwards was accused by the government of soliciting nearly $1 million from wealthy backers to finance a cover up of his illicit affair and illegitimate child while running for president in 2008.

If it takes 9 days, it’s not looking good for the prosecution. I’m thinking he’s got a 50/50 chance at walking.

You can’t use campaign funds to cover up an affair?
What, they passed a ‘Bill Clinton Law’?

He should go to jail for committing adultery while his wife lay dying of cancer. Typical liberal.

I hope this doesn’t turn out like the OJ trial, rather, more like the Scott Peterson trial.
To: sean327
Although he’s guilty I don’t think he’ll do any time.
This is a political prosecution anyway, to make sure he didnt make any more tries for the white house.

I don’t take this as a good sign. The jury was supposedly deadlocked. Usually a deadlocked jury breaks in favor of the defendant. Hope I’m wrong.
To: The KG9 Kid
We the jury find in the above entitled action in the matter of Count #1 that the Defendant, John Edwards IS too sexy for his shirt!

I read an opinion that the lengthy deliberations in this case pointed to the jury wanting to find him guilty of at least something.

Rush just said Edwards guilty on one charge, hung jury on the other charges.
Rush didn’t know which charge Edwards was convicted on, but every juror voted to convict on that specific charge.

I hope he walks. I know everyone gets a case of the fainting vapors about the wronged St Elizabeth. But she was nothing but an evil lawyer, an ice cold wife, and screwed with neigbors who were too downscale for her. She was 100% pro abort. Pro gay marriage,,etc. And she was staying very busy lying to us to help that low life become president.
And this is a political prosecution,,period.
Clinton and Gore took money from Red China. Illegal as hell.
Obama took huge amounts of money from the Palestinian phone banks, and from bundlers all over the middle east. Now wikileaks confirms he got money from Russia too. All illegal as hell.
Foreign money is illegal for US campaigns.
All of the campaigns are rife with subversive, treasonous crime, almost always committed openly, brazenly,,, and im supposed to care that a failed candidate found someone to financially take care of his pregnant girlfriend? This whole case is a joke. LOL

The jury is hung on 5 out of 6 counts. The judge sent the jury back to work. They won't announce the verdict on the 1 count until they have decided on all of them.
No way to tell at this point if it is 11 to 1 to convict, 11 to 1 to acquit, or anything in between.
